“A cynic is a man who looks at the world with a monocle in his minds eye”.
This was the saying which sprang to mind having read the majority of Watersplash reviews following a recent visit to the hotel with my gorgeous girlfriend Rhonda. For those whom approach this charming hotel with even a hint of cynicism- a hotel not held to ransom by unending need to adhere to the boringly generic home county aesthetic which plagues the neurosis of many a less self confident hotelier in the area - will have failed to see the charm this place has to offer.
Undeniably, it needs a dab of paint and a touch of love in some of its lesser cared for crevices to bring to the building itself to the climax of all it can offer. But this focus on the physical fails to see the point. To truly understand, you must get inside the heart of the Watersplash, leave you judgment at the door and experience the unseen bond it shares with the area and its people.
Never grandiose; it knows what it is, what it has to offer, and makes no excuse for resisting change. The words of my favorite reading sum this up better than mine ever could:
I don't want to be
Anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do
Is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking 'round rooms
Wondering what I've got to do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't want to be anything other than me
Judging a place does not define what it is, it defines who you are. Open yourself wide to the possibility of what the Watersplash can offer, let it inside, and you will be a more fulfilled for it. Unless experienced, you will never know its joy.
