I went here for a wedding and stayed the night at a discounted rate. I am basing this review on this rate rather than normal price. I thought the hotel was great. The hotel staff were very attentive, especially during the wedding itself. The food for the wedding and the breakfast was delicious, it must be so hard to get that much food right for that many people but they nailed it. The room is nice, the 4 poster bed was very comfortable. My room was on the first floor overlooking the lawn with a balcony which was a nice touch. I would definately recommend that hotel.

Recommended by a friend, booked a Friday night, DBB, Had flowers, chocolates and wine put in room before arrival. Receptionist hoped we would like the room they had given us. Was supposed to have a standard room with a forest view - ended up with "the best room in the hotel" according to their web site. It was more than that - to check it out look on their website on Room 47. Well done to the Balmer Lawn for making my birthday special :)

I am writing to say a gigantic “Thank You” to all the staff at the Balmer Lawn for making my mother’s 80th birthday surprise party such a fantastic success from start to finish. From the initial menu planning and room decoration through to the professionalism of the waiting and bar staff on the night, everything ran smoother than I would have imagined possible!
The rooms were beautifully decorated with hundreds of balloons and colourful sashes on all the chairs.The welcome drinks, canapés and 3 course dinner were absolutely delicious and the conference and banqueting manager (Slavo) made the evening run like clockwork- doing a brilliant job of ensuring that the 85 guests wanted for nothing throughout the evening and were in the right place at the right time to give my mother a fantastic surprise when she arrived!
After dinner, we had a private disco (arranged by the Balmer Lawn) and a cocktail bar lasting until midnight. All of the bar staff were brilliant, managing to cope with the endless drinks orders -Thank you in particular to Lisa who worked tirelessly and with a friendly smile all evening!
Many of the party guests stayed overnight and had breakfast in the morning –I have had only positive feedback from them regarding their lovely rooms and the brilliant full English breakfast provided.
This was a special evening with a brilliant atmosphere shared by family, friends and neighbours past and present from all over the country (and the U.S.). The Balmer Lawn made the evening very, very special and gave our friends, family and my mother in particular, memories which will always be treasured.

Wonderful old hotel but with all mod cons. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a beautifully furnished room at the end of the building which was lovely and quiet (apart from the wind howling!!). Truly dog-friendly - pooch had a cuddle at reception and there was a bowl and mat waiting for her in our room. Although you cannot take dogs into the restaurant area there were some tables laid out for the dog-owners in the lounge for breakfast which was a bonus. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The other half went to the pool on the Saturday afternoon but it was packed and he only stayed 10 minutes as it and the jacuzzi were so busy. The bar area is cosy with a real-look fire and comfy chairs. The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the village with a variety of pubs and restaurants, but take a torch! Fantastic walks straight from the hotel into the New Forest.
