“Relaxing break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

We had a two night stay at the Edgcumbe recently, the family who run the hotel were so friendly and helpful and only too pleased to help with anything you needed. Breakfast was excellent, beautifully presented and well cooked. We were on the top floor so anyone with hip or leg problems would find this difficult as there isn't a lift. The room was clean, bed linen and towels were very fresh and clean, the hospitality tray was replenished daily. Easy walk into the town, and a lovely cliff walk or along the flat beach. If I stayed there again I would pay extra for a sea facing room. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and have a sea facing room

We can't rate the Edgcumbe hotel in Bude too highly. The room with fabulous views of Summerleaze beach, the canal, river & the bottom end of the town was very comfortable & welcoming. This family run hotel has all of the 'little touches' that make a stay there special such as very good toiletries, biscuits, bottles of Cornish water, tissues, hairdrier & BIG fluffy towels.
The breakfast in the lovely, front facing dining room was second to none. All ingredients actually tasted as they should & the choices surely must suit everyone.
The family can't do enough for their guests & have a lot of information about Bude & the surrounding area to make your stay even better.
Even the changeable weather didn't mar our stay or the fact that I had no voice!
We will definately return & thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking somewhere to stay in this lovely, little seaside town.

Room Tip: A sea view is well worth the small, extra cost.

We have just had a 2 night stay at the Edgcumbe using a discount voucher.
What a lovely place!!!!
I phoned and upggraded the room as I wanted a sea view, and I certainly was not disapointed.
Beautiful views out over the beach out of both windows especially as I lay on the sofa trying to read but being very distracted by the view!
The hosts were lovely, lovely people, so welcoming and genuine with their interest, the breakfast was super.
The hotel decor was clean, fresh and welcoming.
Give this place a try, you will not be dissapointed.

the staff were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble for them, we found the rooms to be spacious, clean, and attractive, beds comfortable, hotel is just a short walk from the town, and a short walk the other way onto the lovely beaches of Bude. Great views from the hotel, the breakfast was yummy

Although not pretty from the outside the interior furnishings of The Edgecumbe are fabulous. The owners are very welcoming and happy to help resolve any query from what shall I do with my wetsuit to where shall I go for dinner.

We had the luxury of a sea view room and a large ensuite, both furnished in the New England style with great attention to detail. Loved the local St Kitts herbery toiletries!
They have a bar as well which serves great coffee too.The breakfasts are super with all different types of eggs cooked for you and no long delays. The range of teas for you to choose from is excellant, making you own brew from a delightful selection.

The location to the beach couldn't be closer just a 5 mins walk away to the sea pool, beach and cliff walks. Very easy to walk into Bude and explore the shops or have a bit to eat.
So no need to use the car at all.
Free parking is available on a first come first served basis.

Excellant stay and dont really want to write about it as now will not be our little secret, except for the fact that the owners deserve a mention.

im writing this on behalf of my parents who went for 2 nights on a voucher deal , while checking in they were given a free upgrade to a sea view room as my mom was recovering from an operation , the rooms were clean spacious and tidy and the family owners bent over backwards to be accommodating to every need , my parents said it was like the good old days when customer service was paramount. the breakfasts were beautiful and there was a great variety , they ended up paying to stay 1 more night and even though they had to change rooms to do this my mom said the room was just as good as the first one but without the gorgeous view . they are already planning their return for next year

Room Tip: from the 2 rooms they had they were impressed with both
