“A Tudor gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Tucked away in a secluded valley 5 miles from Bude, the fully-restored 1540 Poundstock Gildhouse is an absolute gem.
Open on Wednesdays from Easter to October from 10 to 4, the knowledgable and passionate guide will give a history of the building, will offer a cup of tea and will give you a selection of costumes to dress you and your family for photos - and it's all free!
I gather they also offer Tudor Experience days to schools and adult organisations as well as being available for weddings and parties. They have a website with all the details.
Superb!

“A hidden historic gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We were staying in Poundstock and saw that this ancient Gildhouse (thats how they spell it) was open on a Wednesday from 10am to 4pm. So, after breakfast a stroll down the flower banked road brought us to this splendidly restored piece of history. The church is set in a wooded dale and a stream burbles around its nether boundary. We were greeted by the lone duty guide and spent an interesting half hour learning of the history and restoration of this little gem. A visit won't take long but will be most worthwhile.

“Beautiful Church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

We visited the Gildhouse and church which is a two minute drive from Widemouth Bay because we love old churches, this one is the third oldest in the country!
My wife even got to dress in Tudor clothes for some pics, the staff there are lovely and showed us around the grounds with great enthusiasm and passion, they even offered us a cup of tea!
There is no charge for the tour but I urge you to make a donation into the box as I am sure they are all volunteers.
