We stayed in the Old Stables for 5 nights NYE 2012/2013 with our two small, and very active, boys aged 3 & 4. The cottages was perfect. Cosy, warm, comfy bed and spectacular views. It was clean and tidy and very well kitted out - nothing worse than trying to cook a meal for your family and finding that the kitchen doesn't have anything you need! It was a home from home.
The cottages are set in beautiful and well maintained grounds with pathways and woods for the kids to explore despite being under heavy mist for most of our stay. We still managed a bear hunt and passed plenty of time in the brilliant adventure playground. Just make sure you bring lots of waterproofs and wellies for the kids if you are planning a visit in the winter! There was a fab covered area outside the front door which was the perfect 'boot room' - we were able to leave our walking boots, wellies, wet rain suits out there which was a joy. Just made everything so easy.
After a hard days running around on the beach we would be looking forwards to returning to the cottage for a soak in the enormous jacuzzi bath and a lounge on the very comfy three piece suite (with extending foot rests!!) where we could all snuggle up and watch a film or play a board game together. very relaxing indeed.
There is a communal laundry room which made me very happy indeed! With two small boys who fall over in the mud/sand/wet at least 10 times a day and end up with just as much food on their clothes as in the tummies this was perfect. simple to use, £1 a go for a wash or a tumble dry I was able to keep on top of the washing without it being any where near a chore and returned home with a bag full of clean clothes and no mountains of smelly washing to wade through.
Alison and Michael were extremely welcoming friendly and were always on hand if we needed them. I am suffering withdrawal from Alison's hot pain au chocolat breakfast delivery service. delicious. And such a treat.
Overall we had a brilliant break there, it really felt as if we were away from reality in our little bubble. Would definitely, and have been, recommending Glebe House Cottages to friends and strangers alike!
thank you x
well equipped kitchen and covered outside space
night storage heating - we have our heating off al night because we sleep better and whilst the night storage is brilliant at keeping the cottage cosy and snug, in the bedrooms we found it a bit stifling and had to open the windows upstairs
