We found this GH very comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere. Staff very helpful though I would say understaffed/over stretched as we had to wait an inordinate length of time for service on a couple of occasions. We have booked again however, twixt Christmas and New Year 2010 so it wasn't poor enough to deter a return. Ample off street parking.

Although I am quite widely travelled , this is my first review for trip-advisor. Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel . Friendly service, ambience great and the scottish breakfast was the biggest I had ever tried to eat - all I would except from a 3* hotel - great value too - would certainly return .

We stayed at the Old Rectory for one night on our way further North. Our room was spacious with an extremely comfortable bed but was let down by a few minor details such as the toilet seat hanging off, a broken plug chain and a grubby cream carpet, although the rest of the room was very clean (and warm). Also, the fixed shower head was very low and anyone of above average height would need to bend slightly to shower!
The evening meal in the restaurant was very tasty although the dessert was slightly pricey at over £4 for basically two scoops of ice cream, but the Bitter was the best that I have tasted in Scotland! The breakfast was huge and well cooked with plenty of choice. The staff were all friendly and polite and the accomodation was very good value for money. All in all a very good B&B let down by a few small details which could quite easily be remedied.

Situated near the centre of Callander this is a pretty good place to stay. Rooms are recently decorated and modern. Breakfast was good, genorous helpings. Shower was a good quality power shower. Wide range of Malt Whisky in the bar.

The Old Rectory surpassed our expectations. A lovely friendly welcome started what was a very agreeable stay. The room was great, very clean, nice bed, lovely fresh linen and towels, good quality soaps etc. We didn't eat our evening meal in the Old Rectory but regreted that afterwards because the quality would have definately been much better than the naff indian restaurant in Callandar. After a night at the Lade Inn, we had a few night caps at the Old Rectory bar, where the friendly and welcoming theme continued over a few whiskies. The breakfast was huge and was spot on. We would definately rebook here, the rates were very reasonable and were much better than the other two places we have stayed in Callandar, one of which was a massive rip-off.

We stayed at The Old Rectory which is perfectly located just 1 minute stroll from the town and the river. As soon as we arrived we were made welcome and it felt like we'd been staying there for years! We settled in very comfortable rooms, and the beds, the best in Scotland, slept like a baby! Everything was just simply great, we had an evening meal which was superb and I think the staff overheard that we were playing golf at the local golf course. At this, the manager approached us and said we would get a discount if we mentioned we were staying with them, and we did! Can't fault this place from shortbread in the rooms to an extensive whiskey library, absolutely brilliant, no need to stay anywhere else in my view, we will definitely be staying again - if we can get in - better book early!
