“Housekeeping staff member 'noisy'”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

On arrival at Dalgair hotel we did get welcomed and taken up to our room. At no point was it mentioned that the 11am checkout which is displayed online is actually starting at 10am!!!!! as the housekeeping staff bang on your door after stamping aroung heavy foot and shouting across the corridor to her colleague.Breakfast stops at 9am and againg housekeeping staff make it clear whilst eating that 9 is the deadline so you need to eat fast if you've came down at 8.50am.Being aware now of the 10.30 on the dot scary housekeeping women I ran down to the cashline (across the road) to pay the bill. Whilst I was doing this my friend 'had time' to jump in the shower and get changed.Again the housekeeping women(short hair, should have taken her name to report to manager)must have been waiting on the dot and she put the key in the room door and to my friends horror just stood their, friend 'just out the shower'had to grab something to try and cover up.What a shame this was because the live band and bar staff are lovely but this women is a dragon!!! When I spoke to her and showed my receipt of 11am checkout she said they have been trying to say to tripadvisor and laterooms but it hasn't been changed, putting that aside her stamping, shouting, banging on the door, and barging in was totally inappropriate behaviour and very disapointing.

Room Tip: Remember breakfast is at a earlier cut off at 9am . Be prepared for a noisy hosekeeping staff who wi...

Booked this hotel through late rooms.com. This was for a weekend away with my wife. this hotel is named as a" house hotel ", any time in the past that i have stayed in a House Hotel it has been up market, not so for this one. On arrival and looking for the reception you are directed to the bar area, which doubles up as the reception. as there is not a dedicated one. we were allocated room 3 which was located approx. above the entrance door of the bar. The room was very dated, although very clean but was in need of a major refurb. There was everything you would expect in a hotel room, although old and dated. In this day and age we were still looking at a small square television which could not show the full screen as all programmes are now broadcasted in widescreen. the bed was the most uncomfartable I have slept in for a long time, lumpy and in need of a new matress. The bathroom was shocking for a hotel in 2011 just one look at the ceilling indicated just how much this place was in need of some work, if you wanted a bath you had to use the shower to add cold water as the cold tap would'nt budge. the bar is open very late and if you tried to get a sleep after 11.00 it was almost impossible as the smokers stood under the room window, where you were educated in the social, sexual and personal exploits of the locals complete with the added adjectives that go with it. Breakfast was fine although served in the bar as the hotel no longer has a restaurant, this has been taken over and is now an indian which we had a very nice meal in. This restaurant produced a constant aroma of curry even in the bedroom during the night.Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. after a walk down through the town I realised that for a very little extra I could have stayed in a much higher standard hotel or guest house. I feel that on occasion the owner should take some time out and spend a night in each of the rooms and ask himself if he would be happy to pay to stay there, I think I know what the answer would be. After staying in this hotel I now understand why groups such as Travel lodge thrive, if you book with them you know the standard that is on offer. I would like to add praise to the lady who served the breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, she was always very pleasent, had a huge smile and very attentive.

was booked here for a night
the rooms are nice about a 3-star rating but was a little taken aback by the carpet on the floor in the bathroom
the breakfast was average nothing great.
located close to good restaurants and a supermarket
seem to have a busy bar ..but none of us were alcohol lovers to comment on that

After reading some of the reviews here, we expected the worst, but I have to say our stay was all by all acceptable. Yes, the hotel is hard to find (the restaurant under it 'spice palace' is more visible) and the combination of a restaurant, a bar and a hotel is clearly too much to cope with. The room was spacious but in desperate need of some new investments. The bathroom is basic as well, but ok. Take care in the slippery bath though, I almost broke my leg. The people at the bar (who apparently 'run' the hotel as well) were friendly. The room was a bit noisy as it was at the street side of the hotel. We were lucky to find the bar at a very calm evening, so no noise from it neither. Breakfast in that same smokey bar downstairs was terrible though.

This Callander stop was part of my 35 day UK trip, along with my grandfather. He's 80 years-old, so you can imagine how it was staying in a horrible hotel, on a Saturday night, with locals singing the karaoke in your head! It also needs a lot of refurbishing. The management should decide if they want to run a pub or a hotel. It's the worst hotel I stayed in UK...

Please note that this is a pub, and not a hotel. This pub has friendly staff, but the decor is in dire need of refurbishment. A couple of coats of paint would not go amiss. Our bed had the thinnest mattress I've ever seen! However, it was clean, there is an excellent Indian restaurant at the front of the pub. The breakfast was 10/10. Inevtiably, being a pub, it was noisy up to after 11 pm, but you expect that. I would suggest you try the local B & B's first before staying here. We did, but they were all full! Just down the road though is Doune Castle, it's fabulous ,non-commercialised and worth a visit!

Room Tip: Not for kids, it's too noisy with the pub downstairs. to find it, look for the Indian Reataurant...

2/7/11 Hotel room was very clean and well equiped.Although very dated and in need of an overhaul. Breakfast was excellent STAFF were not at all friendly..I asked a young girl at breakfast for something and you would have thought i had asked her to run a mile she wasn't happy at helping us at all...As for the world famous karaoke one word DISMAL Don't get me wrong if you are a local you can sing all night long just don't ask to sing if you are a guest at the hotel..i asked for a song and was scowled at and told abruptly WE DONT HAVE THAT SONG or any other i asked for and he did all of that without looking my husband and i left as the locals who sit firmly at the bar made us feel quite uneasy..we headed for the Crown where we had a fantastic time and the locals there were great we will never be back ...for a hotel in an area that depends on tourists for their living it was terrible and i think they need to ajust attitudes and behaviour to their PAYING GUESTS

Room Tip: if you must go here get a room at the front
