“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I did my research prior to going, all seemed well. My son & I had one meal there. The dining room is small but that didn't bother us. The service was so slow. They will say that everything is cooked to order but that's the same with other places and as we were eating out every night for two weeks we can compare. I ordered steak when it arrived it looked like a Sunday dinner - meat & two veg. They were repairing the sound system so we were getting 1,2 -1.2 and sound checks. We waited so long to pay that in the we put our coats on and paid at the till only to find the waitress (possible the owner) smoking at the entrance. If you need a fag, smoke out of sight of guests. I have reviewed the other places we eat at on this site.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

This is a great restaurant with a wide range of meals. Family of four ate here.

It's not the most amazing decor you will ate in, but the food is great. Not one problem and it was busy. There are only 6 tables, but the atmosphere is a typical "local pub food" restaurant. There are other more posh restaurants near by (Poppies is great, try that if you want romantic and slight nicer tables etc) but we liked the local people and the small trader approach here.

Our food - fillet steak and local burger. Plus various other home made food. Lots of care taken. Drinks were good, food reasonable and we would eat again. Don't be put off by the more relaxed atmosphere, it's great and recommended. Not one complaint, also great homemade steak pie for kids. Go tryit.

“greys restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Greys restaurant in the old rectory is lovely food, great value for money in relaxed surroundings. Small and relaxing. Menu ranges from local dishes to splendid takes on family favorites. Homemade sauces and shockingly tempting sweets.

“A bit disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

decided to go here for Sunday dinner as we saw the great reviews on TripAdvisor. The bar area is jam packed with different kinds of whisky, so if you like whisky you would a kid in a candy shop. We were shown to our table and it took 10 mins before anyone came to take a drinks or food order and the place seemed quiet. We ordered from the set Sunday menu where you get 3 courses for £9.95. We also tried to order a bottle of wine, however they did not have the bottle we wanted. Instead we were offered the same type in a carafe, i then saw the barman fill the carafe from a box of wine, which when arrived was at room temperature and not chilled, disappointing. the starters were very nice and the Sunday roast was OK, frozen roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, expected better. We did not have a sweet as we were full but were still charged for 3 courses. All in all an average meal but good value for 3 courses, not so much if you only have 2. Not sure i would return
