“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Although the menu was small the quality of food was excellent. Meals were made fresh to order so it was worth waiting a little bit longer. The waitress was very attentive and were were never rushed even when we had finished. Would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

“It deserves to be busier”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Visited The Crags while staying in Callander and seeing a sample menu in our guest house. The chef puts together a small, but interesting, range of choices, which is more preferable to those sprawling menus which are impossible to be all freshly made, and most of which will be whisked out the freezer. Definitely not the case at The Crags - but the limited choice does not make it any easier to decide what to have! We eventually opted for pork belly and a venison tagine, Moroccan style, and the food was exceptional. Add to that a great ambience, great service from a waitress with a great taste in blues music and a friendly bar and we had a great night out. It deserves to be busier.

“OK Restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We were recommended to try this restaurant, the food was OK, nothing out of the box. The decor is very different as was the music in the background. The waitress was very helpful.

“Perfect Scottish Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

We have frequently been to Scotland, and this time we decided to try out Callander as a venue. We came upon the Crags Hotel/Restaurant and were immediately impressed with their ambiance. The building maintains its rich history and is well placed in the city center. The dining room is very cozy with an abundance of old photographs of the town and people from days gone bye. It was especially nice to see a large Ordnance Survey map of the Trossachs area displayed on one of the walls. The best food we have had throughout our whole trip was at the Crags. We tried several items: bacon wrapped fish cakes...smoked trout "a la Trossachs"...and Venison in spiced gravy. It was heavenly! We can recommend this venue to anyone staying within central Scotland.

We will definitely be back to the Crags and hope to book a room there on our next trip!
