“My favourite”

This is my favourite cinema in the area. Clean, comfortable, good sound and picture. Parking is easy and you can pick your seat!

“A cosy retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Wet & windy weather on a Sunday in Devon, so we decided to see the latest Bond Movie 'Skyfall' at our local Alexandra Cinema in Newton Abbot. The cinema run by Scott Cinemas, is located in the original building next to Newton Abbot, Market, but it has all you could wish for in a moderrn cinema and shows the latest films. We went for the 4.30 pm screening. Convenenient free Sunday parking is currently available at the nearby Asda store.
Staff at the cinema are always friendly & in a tactful way ensured that we only paid the senior citizen rate. There are 3 screens and the Bond Film was showing upstairs. All areas have been refurbished with really comfortable seating and there are cup holders so you can take a soft drink, or tea/coffee into the cinema. We sat in the back row, where there is extra leg room, rather like being in an armchair at home! The cinema was warm & cosy and we enjoyed the film.
I think the residents of Newton Abbot should celebrate that they have such a liitle gem of a cinema right in the heart of the town.

The downstairs cinema's seating is not stepped do when somebody tall sits in front your knackered! Great shame but I'd rather pay to travel and actually SEE the film

“A cinema that shows children's film yet clearly doesn't like children.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

Visited Barnstaple theatre with 7 children to watch a film. We arrived on time and were advised to wait in the bar area. After a few minutes the children were told sternly to be quiet by a member of Scott's staff. The children were sitting chatting excitably about the upcoming film. I was told that people in the theatre nearest to us would be able to hear the children. If you can hear children 30 ft away when a film is playing then the Scott must play the sound on their films extremely low and have the large heavy doors wide open all the time!

Young, inexperienced staff who clearly couldn't careless about children. I would recommend that you steer clear of Scott Cinemas and visit a large chain instead.

“Nice local cinema”

You can park nearby, its a smallish cinema which I remember going to when I was a small child watching the pantomimes. Its cosy and well priced with a good choice of films and shows
