I like to show all the team at Sampsons the reviews we get from trip advisor. It is important we keep service to a high standard,so if we can offer local information on things to see and do and make your day more memorable than that's what Sampsons is all about. The free range eggs for breakfast are always a great way to start the day !!

Stayed here at the weekend & would definitely go back. Picturesque thatched accommodation, lovely food (ate here both nights), great staff & the 15th Century restaurant & bar is festooned with Art by the incumbent talent... would work well for any season.

We've just returned from a 5 day break - booked 2 nights with discount voucher + added 2 - standards brilliant throughout.Food particularly good, and to sit around a big log fire in the evening was lovely. The rural setting with chickens ( lovely eggs for breakfast !) ducks + goats was great and location perfect with lots to do + see courtesy of plenty of advice and help from staff who were just like one big happy family - what a bonus !! Will definitely go back.

I booked two nights as a romantic break for my wife and I on 6/7th of March 2013 as things had been quite draining and needed to get away and just unwind . I didn't tell my Sue where we were going and hoped it would be a great surprise .when we parked and looked around at the thatched farmhouse and the chickens running around ,Sue just cried , Honestly it is that breath taking and it just got better and better.

The service from all the staff was genuinely friendly and extremely helpful , nothing was too much trouble .this stems from Nigel the owner who has a great old fashion approach " WE ARE HERE TO ENSURE TO THAT YOU CAME BACK "and this is reflected in everything about Sampson's Farm .

Location is quiet and you feel a million miles away from normal life .

Our room was spacious, clean and had everything you needed, we looked at most of the rooms in the Farmhouse and adjacent buildings and they all offer different things to different people . And was advised that one of the rooms was over the Kitchen , this was refreshing and summed up the whole ethos of Sampson's Farm "We are here for you"

Breakfast was excellent and choice huge the eggs were so fresh they glowed on the plate like a large sun and when they had run out of the fresh croissant's, the answer was simply " be about 15mins is that ok " believe me they were worth waiting for .

Evening meals were served in a romantic setting , quality/ choice of dishes and service again was excellent , the fresh Scallops were to die for .it was great to see the staff enjoying what they do .

If you enjoy walking and the country side , you are only 200 yards away from the river meadows and field's , lovely walks . advice is freely given on local areas of interest .

Seriously we have now found Sampson's farm and WILL be going back , ensuring we book early as I believe the secret is now out, but honestly believe the standards and service will continue to be excellent under the continuing eye of Nigel .

If you want excellent service in a amazing setting , this is the place to go .

Thank you again Nigel and the whole team for a brilliant break

SEE YOU SOON

Room Tip: Just tell them what you are looking for as they all offer something different .

I stayed here with a friend using a discount deal recently and was so please I booked a group break later in the year.
We found the staff to be very accommodating and offered us nothing but help and advice when it came to the local area.
We love te fact that the place is rural and has chickens and goats. The character means it will never be show home perfect t but if you want that go to a city!!!
Love it!!

I booked a weekend for 2 at Sampson's Farm for 8th/9th March 2013. First impressions were excellent. We were welcomed and offered tea/coffee to drink as our room wasn't quite ready. As soon as it was, we were shown to the room which was tastefully decorated and well equipped. As we were on a cycling weekend, we were fortunate to have a room which had patio doors opening onto a patio area, perfect for parking bikes, with views of Dartmoor. From the window in the bedroom we could see chickens, ducks and goats! In addition, there was no traffic noise. Perfect!

Dinner on the first night was excellent. The serving staff were happy, friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was very well presented and very tasty. The dining rooms were tastefully decorated and the tables well positioned. For breakfast the following day, the choices were vast! Again, we were welcomed and looked after so well. Nigel, the owner had recommended some cycling routes and guided us with a map. We enjoyed road-biking over Dartmoor and mountain-biking in Haldon Forest which had trails throughout with different abilities catered for. Fantastic! Upon our return with filthy bikes, we asked if there was a hose we could use and again, this was sorted immediately. Breakfast on day 2 was as excellent as the previous day.

Overall, the location is excellent for moors, forest and beaches. Sampson's Farm gets a massive recommendation from us - we were treated so well and in a personable manner by all. Cleanliness, attention to detail and outstanding customer service made our stay so special. We will most definitely return.

Wow, what a gem, beautiful, quirky, great location , great staff, fantastic food !
What else , our room was above the kitchen which meant that when the kitchen staff came in at 6.0 , it was a bit of an early wake up call. The bathroom was also very small ,but the room and the bed were very comfy.
As we had this stay on a deal the stay was great value and we,d certainly recommend and stay again.
Many thanks.
