“Keep returning. Cant fault anything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Returned again...yes again....we have tried several other places but The Tap really is the TOP place for us to eat.

Came for Sunday lunch recently and wow.

Beef was cooked how we liked it, my husband is very fussy re this. Veg, potatoes just perfect.

I really cant fault this Pub. Clean, tidy, Friendly staff and who are very attentive. And fab food.

Well done guys. As always We will Return soon.

“Mixed experiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

We (2) decided to visited The Langley Tap at the last minute, but rang to book a table to ensure it was OK and was told there was plenty of room that evening and that there was no need to book. We advised that we would be there in 30 mins.

On arrival we were told that it would be very noisy & busy in the main bar are as there was going to be a quiz so we sat at the rear of the dining room (which was close to the Kitchen) on a 4 seat round table.

We settled for the Lamb Rump & a Chicken breast which was served sautéed potatoes and a range of fresh vegetables (other choices available) which was delicious (although the chicken was a little dry) followed by the three chocolate cheese cake & tiramisu (very generous portions but I would not have called the tiramisu traditional)

On the down side the high back chairs were not in the best of condition and the seats (tried all 4) were uncomfortable and felt like the bottoms had collapsed.

The permanent view into the Kitchen (as the kitchen fire door did not close correctly and remained approx. 200mm wide) and into the wide open Cutlery come Storage come Entertainment system cupboard was less than aesthetically appealing. (Yes we could have sat and faced the wall or other diners)

The toilets were a very pleasant surprise and included a separate disabled toilet. (Yes the condition of toilets influences my judgment of a restaurant as does the Food Hygiene Rating 4/5)

I was also somewhat annoyed when paying by card to be presented with the tip screen (felt a little moral blackmail) which had to be cancelled as I tip with cash.

We will return again using the experienced gained as the prime reason for visiting was the food which was generally lovely.

Note to Trip Advisor: The location provided by the map in the Trip Advisor android app totally misplaces the property at Bromham.

“Still going great guns.......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

After a few visits I thought it time to leave another review, which coinsides not only with the new owners at the Tap celebrating thier first year, but also winning best newcomer for the south west in the national pub awards, a great result and well deserved for the team.

The times that I have visited the staff have always been warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, the food is always excellent, great variety (a couple of menu changes throughout the year helps) and good value, yes sometimes there is a short wait, but the food is freshly prepared so its not going to be instant, this is fine with me, going out for dinner is an experience, not something I want to rush.

Still a great little village pub with great food and a great atmosphere, keep up the good work!

“Pie Night - more like Stew Night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

We went to the Tap last night for Pie Night and whilst the staff were friendly and we could not fault the service - I think that trading standards may take umbrage to the food being labelled a ‘pie’ when it was more akin to a bland stew with a small puff pastry top plonked on top and swimming about in the large soup bowl that the food was served in. Like I said can’t fault the service – but will definitely not be making a return visit on ‘pie’ night

Hi Emma - we have run Pie night for over a year and as you will have seen from your visit it is hugely popular and justly so!! Every week we offer 5 homemade pies with a choice of potato & freshly cooked vegetables for only £6.95! - it is excellent value and consistently our busiest night of the week! In order to offer our valued customers great variety we do offer both traditional shortcrust blind baked pies and open puff pastry pies. The pies are clearly listed on the board as to whether they are shortcrust or puff pastry so our customers can make an educated decision based on their preference. As always we sold out of all the pies & feedback from all tables was superb.

Thank you for praising our staff I will pass this on - they are attentive and as such I know that no complaint was raised on the night when your table was checked - had you mentioned it at the time this would have given us the opportunity to act to rectify any concerns. Best wishes Matt & Jo

“Delish!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Have visited quite a few top rated pub/restaurants in the Chippenham area and this one for me gets the No 1 vote. A very nice clean traditional pub with welcoming, pleasant & efficient staff. The food was excellent and the pints were lovely, 5 stars also for value.
A place that we will return to, and would not hesitate in recommending.
