We often stay at Travelodges but this one is terrible, the following text is an extract from our complaint letter to them !
Unrestricted window opening (ground floor)
We wanted some ventilation in the room as it was a muggy night, but we were unable to leave the window open because the room was on the ground floor and there was no mechanism to restrict the window opening
Missing bedside table
The bedside table on one side was missing. I decided to use the chair instead.
Filthy chair
The chair was filthy with stains on the seat.
Broken bed
While sitting up in bed at 23:00 on the first night, the bed suddenly slid away from the wall and collapsed because one of the legs had come off. My partner and I had to get dressed and I went to reception to report the problem. The staff member, Vicki, was very apologetic (though not surprised, as she said this happened fairly frequently) and arrived in the room about 10 minutes later with a toolbox and screwed the leg back on. She said that the wood was damaged but thought it should hold until the morning. She said she would check and tighten all the legs during the following day. She left us at 23:20.
Faulty shower
In the morning we went to use the shower but the water was at scalding temperature and we couldn’t use it. There seemed to be no cold water feeding the shower.
Faulty bath
We decided to run a bath instead but the hot tap on the bath was not working. This meant that we effectively had no bathing or showering facilities in our room. We did manage a small bath using the cold tap water and the hot shower water but this took over 15 minutes to run. We had to wash our hair by filling the kettle from the sink and pouring that over our heads.
Dirty room
The room generally was very dirty with dust and debris clearly visible around the edges of the carpet, particularly near the bed. There was a cobweb on the wall/ceiling.
