“Couldn't fault it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We have just returned from a stay here and really couldn't fault it. The attention to detail and customer service was superb. The room was clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable.
There was a varied choice of food on the menu with the specials board too, which was of a very good standard for pub food. The character and ambiance was exceptional and we will definitely visit again.

Thoroughly enjoyed first visit and so thought let's if it is always good and hey presto it is. Excellent accomodation, great breakfast and the evening meals mean we don't bother looking elsewhere. Tried other pubs/restaurants on previous visit but difficult to beat what's On offer. Staff very cooperative and helpful. It's been a pleasure to stay again and excellent value.

Room Tip: Been in Rooms 1 & 2 very good

We are regulars at this pub/restaurant, the food is always at a high standard a little high in price maybe but you get what you pay for! The staff are always friendly and its dog friendly to! If you have to wait for your meal as some have suggested it is because it is always freshly made and as it is I expect a busy kitchen I sure people can be a little patient! Definately recommend.

Sunday lunch at the Fisherman's Haunt Hotel was very enjoyable. The menu was varied and plenty of choice. Quickly ready we were able to enjoy our meal in very pleasant surroundings.
This time our choice of local caught pheasant from the New Forest was a good one. Five vegetables and included an opportunity to have a Yorkshire pudding with it as well.
While plenty of people came in, there was lots of room and no one felt crowded. More importantly there was a good number of staff to help with choices and also provide good efficient service.
A place to return to. We were made to feel welcome.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the beginning of October. We arrived at some ridiculously early time, having got off a ferry at 6.30am, but the staff were more than happy to let us leave our cases (our room was still occupied). We returned after lunch to find our cases had already been helpfully moved into our room for us. The staff were attentive, efficient and could not have been more friendly and helpful. The tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries provided, were very generous. The bed was big and comfortable and the sheets were of good quality. We eat at the restaurant for both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed our choice of food. Breakfasts were also good and it was pleasant to see decent sized, freshly baked and crumbly croissants rather than the pathetically small, pale and leathery varieties often served in British hotels.
We originally chose the Fisherman's Haunt as it described itself as pet-friendly. It was exactly that, even down to the big bowl of free dog biscuits in the bar.
There are one or two rather poor reviews of this hotel posted on Trip Advisor over a year ago. Ignore them. I did not recognize any of their negative comments in our visit to this excellent and friendly little hotel. For the price of £85/night this hotel is very good value and we shall use it in the future when we return to the Christchurch area.

We stayed off at The Fisherman's Haunt to have Sunday lunch with the family. We ordered our drinks at the bar and was shown to a table, where we all chose our meal very quickly off the Sunday roast menu. When a waitress didn't come to the table, my husband went to the bar to order, he was advised to sit back down and the waitress would take our order. We waited patiently, the restaurant wasn't even that busy. The waitress finally came and took our order.

We had another round of drinks and chatted amongst ourselves, after 25 mins the waitress returned to our table to tell us one they had now ran out of mutton and did we want to make another choice!! We couldn't believe it had taken that long to discover that!
The meal arrived another 20 odd minutes later, not that we were in any rush in anyway but were very hungry. The meal itself was ok nothing special and in my opinion not worth the £12 for a Sunday lunch, very sorry!

Had a fabulous stay here September 2012, The staff were so friendly and helpful. If your a dog owner/lover this is the place to stay , water bowls and treats a plenty.Lovely personal touches in the excellent rooms like dairy milk chocolate bars in your towels and a cold flask of milk instead of the usual cartons. The toiletries are too die for :)). We based ourselves here to explore the New forest , it was a perfect 5 minute drive into the forest, close to Ringwood and Bournemouth. I cant find one fault about this perfect english pub/hotel, we will certainly be back :))
