Had dinner at the newly renamed "Noisy Lobster" tonight.
Lovely new conservatory extension added recently which gave a nice almost alfresco dining experience while retaining the shelter of being indoors. This was a real improvement on what was there before.
A mixture of fresh locally caught fish and a few interesting things on the menu. To start we had a special of prawns, squid and chorizo on ciabatta, and herb crusted duck egg on an asparagus bed, all very nice. For main we had moules frites and prawn linguine and for dessert chocolate brownie and eton mess. For the most part the food was pretty good.
A few little things could help improve the experience. The bottled water was served at room temperature, which is a minor thing but in the baking 30 degree heat would have been nice to have it a little colder. Waitress forgot to bring our wine so after 15 minutes we had to remind her. They eventually turned up after the starters.
This kind of slightly sloppy service was consistent throughout the evening, cutlery delivered but dropped on the table not placed. Long waits for service and often needed prompting. When we asked about the speed of the service we were told there were only 2 chefs on, but the food was being delivered promptly so that wasn't really the problem.
Just two other things to mention, they REALLY need to get some better coffee, we had a latte and a cappuccino and we both thought they were really awful. Secondly they only have one unisex toilet cubicle for the whole restaurant which I felt was really insufficient as I noticed quite a few queues forming even though the restaurant was nowhere near full.
So overall, lovely setting, pretty good food, could really be fantastic if they make a few tweaks.
