Gods place to go for people who like planes not a large area but ok money wise just don't go on a wet day as all the exhibits are outside

“worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

I enjoyed it but could do with nore planes and helicopters.
Children seemed to enjoy it.
Could do with more information about how important this area was in WW2 and the aiports in the area.
As it is run by volunteers there are very willing to help with your visit.

“Hands-on exhibits, great for kids & those old enough to remember their prime”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

The planes are set out so most of them are accessable, if you are agile enough. The 2 larger planes are quite easy to get into. The single seater ones are more dificult, although steps are in position so you don't have to scale up the sides - I now have great admiration for the agility of helicopter pilots, when I saw the little "step" holes leading up to the cockpit. Plenty of knobs to twiddle & dials to look at, and a flight simulator computer game set up in a cabin at the end. There's a double dekker bus positioned to get a good view of aircraft landing at Bournemouth airport, & a friendly guy letting you know when a plane is on approach. There are some seats & tables set out if you need a rest. There was certainly plenty of parking on the day we went. A great museum for a sunny day (not sure how it would be in the wet as most of it is in the open air). I believe it is manned by some enthusiastic volunteers, who are very knowledgeable.
