“Fabulous cocktails in a smart setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Thankyou to the team at the Kings Arms for a great evening. The well stocked bar serves an extensive range of cocktails served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. The addition of a seasonal menu makes Kings an excellent choice for a quality evening out.

We stayed here for a 2 night dinner,B&B deal. The check in was quick and easy. The staff were only too keen to help with parking details and our questions about what to do and where to go locally. Although parking is limited we had no problems at all throughout our stay. Our room was nicely decorated in a very modern style with a very comfy bed. The food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast and served by pleasant and attentive staff that are a credit to the hotel.

The Kings is a fabulous Hotel we had a King room over looking the Cathedral the room was big and airy and very well furnished It was great to open the blinds and windows and over look the Pavillion. We ate in the restaurant the food was delicious and the the sevice very good the steak was sheer perfection. The Hotel location is very central and handy for the local attractions.

The Kings provided the perfect setting for our wedding on 16th August. What started out as a miserable, rainy day turned into brilliant sunshine! Our ceremony was in the pavilion which is absolutely beautiful and the surrounds made for some fabulous pictures. The food at our wedding breakfast was outstanding, being vegetarian I sometimes find it hard to get a meal I enjoy but I loved every bite of my three course meal as did the majority of our guests (meat eaters and veggies alike). The room we were given to stay in was great and so spacious with a lounge area and gorgeous shutters over the sash windows. We were at the front of the building and I can honestly say the sound of traffic outside was not a problem for us. We will be returning for a meal and drink and cannot rate the hotel and staff highly enough.

A marvellous hotel if you can get the service; even as a guest i could not book a table to eat in the restaurent. very noisy in the front from road traffic. difficult to park. the bar so busy the bar man could not cope with 4-6 deep waiting to be served.
on the good side good rooms, clean and modern. space a little wanting at times...

Room Tip: use the back rooms, the loft rooms are much smaller.

We had a few nights at the Kings Arms. Overall, a satisfactory venue, but I doubt we'd stay there again. The food was good and staff very friendly and helpful. However, as others have commented for some years, our room was unbearably hot and noisy. This is the main reason for our 3* score. We were on the top (attic) floor. Our room had a single window that was unable to keep the room cool. With the window open, its safety catch mechanism rattled incessantly, which together with the traffic noise made sleeping difficult. The heat build up was the main problem. Some form of air conditioning, instead of the Dyson fan provided, is required.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, I sincerely apologise that you have not had a satisfactory stay with us, we do try our very best to ensure every guest has an enjoyable stay of high quality. We have looked into air conditioning for the higher rooms so shall be taking your review into consideration. Furthermore we do apologise about the noise, however we hope to see you return and we can ensure to locate you into a much more quiet room. We hope to hear from you in near future.
