“lovely cosy rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Stayed at this lovely hotel recently as we had a wedding at clearwell castle. We were welcomed by the owner and showed our rooms which were lovely and spacious with plenty of storage space and very cosy and warm. The bed was so comfortable.I liked the little extras that were put in the bathroom, like a bath mat, shaver, flannel and even bath soap.very thoughtful. The breakfast was very nice, especially the veggie breakfast. We weren't rushed at all which was nice as we had had a late night previously so weren't up very early the next day. Will definitely be back next year sometime for a long weekend hopefully.Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cosy place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed on top floor in Room 10 which overlooked the front of the hotel.Very cosy and warm

Me and my husband and family stayed here as we were going to a wedding at clear well castle. Which was literally 3 minutes drive in the car.
Breakfast was great and service too. Rooms were lovely and bed was extremely comfortable. Would defiantly recommend and stay again.

It was our friends choice this time to dine at this hotel, although it was recommended to them, it was not a good choice.
We had a warm welcome from the owner and were taken to meet our friends in the Lounge. A frosty night outside, we were looking forward to log fires and home comforts, alas this was not the case, a very cold environment. Some time after ordering our food we were taken to our table. The temperature not improved, again a small fan type heater. It was such a pity, both the restaurant and lounge had wonderful old fireplaces but unfortunately no logs evident. Both fire places filled with a display of unlit candles!
The food although served hot it was not inspiring - this was not a winter venue - if you are booking make sure there are logs on the fire.

We wanted to organise an informal lunch for 14 relatives ranging from grandma to grandaughters and grandsons, with time together to catch-up on each others news. Roger and Lesley were flexible and easy to work with, very welcoming and provided an excellent environment. Their setting is wonderful, and some of us enjoyed a local charity bonfire night nearby. 8 of us stayed over in warm comfortable country-style rooms, with a hearty breakfast the next morning. Nothing was too much trouble for Roger, and the price we paid was good value for all the facilities we enjoyed.

We have a family reunion every year here and we have been to the Lambsquay Hotel since 1996 every September.Mike and Lesley ,the owners, are always wonderful hosts where nothing is too much trouble. Some of our party stay overnight and enjoy this quiet and comfortable country house in its lovely woodland setting. It is such a good base for exploring the Forest with Clearwell Caves and Puzzle Wood tourist sites close by.We are already looking forward to next year when we can enjoy an excellent luncheon in the Victorian dining room and afterwards relax in the lounge with a coffee .

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the drive have lovely views over the fields and woods.

Very friendly and helpful people. A very pleasant stay here for one night. Great location for cycling in the Forest of Dean etc. lovely breakfast, home grown good etc. didn't have dinner in the evening but smelled great. Only slight negative was the shower was very weak water pressure, but a highly recommended b & b!

Stayed here for four nights July 2013. Booked two rooms to accommodate our family party of four. Were given rooms 3 and 4 which have an interconnecting door which was really good for us. Mike and Lesley were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was very nice including home grown produce every day. Hotel was in a great location for accessing the attractions of the Forest that we'd gone to enjoy. Puzzlewood and Clearwell caves are both on the doorstep and well worth visiting. Overall very good value for money.
