Owner description: Puzzlewood - A Magical Day Out in the Forest of DeanWhy is Puzzlewood magical? Is it the maze of pathways winding through deep gulleys of moss covered rocks, the twisted roots of the Yew trees or the bridges, ‘lookouts’ and features to find on your way round? Puzzlewood is enchanting; it has an atmosphere quite unlike any other woodland. Here you can imagine that you are in a fantasy film, and that fantastic creatures lurk round every corner. Puzzlewood is used for Merlin, Dr Who and recently for a new Warner Bros movie called Jack the Giant Killer (release date June 2012).Also onsite are farm animals, willow maze, indoor maze, playground, picnic tables, café and gift shop

Such a stunning place, it is easy to see why it has been used as a film and TV location. Take proper walking shoes as it can get slippery.

We absolutely fell in love with the Puzzlewood. It is a truly enchanting place for me as a grown up but I can't even describe how much, our almost three year old, loved our adventure.
It is well worth every single penny as this attraction is one in its kind.

“The perfect way to experience the great at doors. One of a kind place : )”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

My partner and I took our 3 year old boy to Puzzlewood on Sat 27th and we had a truly wonderful day. We put on our wellies and walked our legs off around this magical forest. The little added extra of finding the spiders in the forest was great for keeping my little one interested but even if we hadn't needed to find them he would have been just as happy. We jumped across the stepping stones, and he loved running around in the forest. It wasn't particularly busy but we
which was great as there were times we we're completely alone which added to the magic. I think the £6 entry fee for adults is reasonable and the under 4's go free is spot on to. We also had a go on the race track in the barn and also a play in the straw barn to. As we are from the city it was lovely going to this scenic spot and just exploring the outdoors and would recommend to anyone with young children. I've read that a few people have taken 10 - 12 year olds and they have found it boring which is completely expected. The best thing about this place is the magic and 10+ year olds would not really by in to it. I mean you wouldn't take a 12 year old to see Santa so wouldn't suggest taking them here! I also wanted to say that I completely agree that dogs should not be allowed (even if on a lead). Firstly because the whole point for a dog going for a walk is to be let off the lead so this would not be fun for them walking in a big open forest where they cannot run and also because although the vast majority would pick up the poop there would be a few that wouldn't which would not be fair on the young ones. Having gone with my active 3 year old who done nothing but run along the paths I'm glad I didn't have to worry about him stepping in crap. There is plenty of big open spaces where dogs can go, they don't need to go into this lovely enchanted forest that is wasted on them and which they could potentially soil and put people off by pooing all over the place. Well done puzzlewood for keeping it a dog free zone : )

Beautiful in autumn, every corner turned was breath taking. Magical place.
No need for the animals.
Take sturdy footwear.

What a fantastic woodland walk this is - reminiscent of Lord of the Rings, Tolkein apparently was inspired to write the Hobbit after visiting Puzzlewood. Great value for money, there are barns and animals to look at before entering the maze of incredible woodland paths. We were followed round by the farm cat, Banksy. A magical place that you will want to visit again.
