“Great Stay for a young family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2010

We booked the legoland deal and stayed for 3 nights, great value for money. Ideal spot for Legoland and the many other sights and attractions in Windsor.
Check-in was easy, kids received their welcome packs and they were very pleased.
We had 2 interconnecting rooms, both a great size, loads of toiletries and little treats also in the rooms. Excellent for a family with young children.
Breakfast was excellent, the best I've seen in a long time. My only comment is that dinner in the restaurants was quite expensive but the food was lovely.
Overall an excellent stay for a young family. Thanks.

Just recently stayed here with my 2 kids on a trip to legoland. Flew Easyjet from Belfast to Luton and hired a car. Had a great time, the service was second to non. The position of hotel was great to travel into London centre, Windsor an Legoland. Loved it will be back!

How nice to find a hotel that comes up to ones expectations of what a hotel should be like. Even with lots of children around - as our group didn't have children - we thought they were well behaved and catered for. The location, staff, rooms, and especially the buffet were all excellent. Will definitely go again when I have time to use the wonderful looking spa facilities. Not having to pay extra for wi-fi was a bonus and much appreciated too.

We have stayed at the Runnymede numerous times, but this is our first stay since the refit.

The location of the hotel is fantastic; although it's really close to Heathrow, it's quite nice to sit by the Thames and watch the enormous planes above your head!

The positives then: staff are really friendly, room was extremely clean, bed nice and comfortable, treatments in the Spa were fantastic, pool is really good, location is as I said really good, sat by the Thames with a drink is bliss.

Unfortunately a few negatives this time though: we had paid for a 'superior' room but, although the room and bed were clean and comfortable, the TV was tiny, not much (if any) bigger than a portable which was really disappointing for the money we paid, we had a view out on to the roof (!) and we didn't get our champagne and chocs that we'd paid for.

We had a few drinks and nibbles in the Lounge but, although the food and drink were excellent, it is very expensive and the service is extremely slow, we noticed a few people complain about the slow service during our stay, at some points you wonder if they've forgotten about you altogether!

We had dinner one night in Leftbank, which is now a buffet restaurant, and again, extremely expensive with food being average at best I would say. There was a fair amount of choice but nothing that really stood out unfortunately and after spending nigh on £80 for just the two of us, we were left a little disappointed. Breakfast again was buffet-style but also again not up to a very good standard.

We did, however, enjoy our second morning's breakfast, which was in The Lock, a totally different experience. Waiter service and the food was excellent.

I am not a big moaner by a long way, we both love Runnymede a lot but this time it was a little disappointing.

The good times always outweigh the bad though so we will be back, hopefully next time a little bit chirpier when we leave!

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times for a girlie spa night away. I only live a few miles away but this hotel feels worlds away, so relaxing. Granted the standard rooms aren't huge but great decor, and a fantastic sleep. Spa is great and I look forward to trying out the new outdoor pool. Not to be missed is afternoon tea and breakfast (I would miss the coffee though they still don't seem to have perfected that) - both by the river, where you can watch the boats going up and down the Thames. Such a relaxing place. I'd recommend it.

We stayed at the Runnymede Hotel for two nights with our two young daughters aged 2 and 8. The purpose of the trip was to visit Legoland and the Farnborough Air Show.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel everything was brilliant. Our daughters were given lots of attention and a free goody bag which contained good quality products. We were directed to our room which was of an adequate size for all of us. The room was very clean and dust free, very nicely decorated, the airconditioning worked and the bathroom was ideal with a nice big bath for the girls to share. The complimentary bath products were from the White Company - everything very high quality. Kettle, iron and ironing board, enough coathangers, dressing gown and slippers were all supplied. Little celophane bag of biscuits on the girls beds for them.
On our first night we had dinner on the terrace overlooking the river. While we had a few drinks the girls could run about on the lawn out of everyone's way but within constant eyesight. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was lovely and fresh and drinks were cold.
Breakfast was a buffet with anything you could possibly imagine. There were 5 different types of saugages! It was all served very nicely and not in huge troughs like you get in some hotels where you feel like you're in a budget cafeteria.
The following night we ate in the restaurant and had another buffet meal which was all fresh, very tasty and again the service was excellent.
We didn't use the leisure facilities so cannot comment on that area of the hotel. There was a large party going on at the time of our stay but because they have a separate building for such events, it did not impact on our stay at all.
I would definitely go back to the Runnymede, we had such a fabulous time.

I chose to stay at The Runnymede with a friend before getting an early morning flight the next day from Heathrow. We were looking for somewhere to catch up, relax by the pool and eat lovely food, the hotel didn't disappoint on all counts. The location is perfect for the airport, which is just ten minutes away, but I was a little surprised that a shuttle service wasn't available, a taxi is between £15 and £20.

If you can look past the unattractive exterior of the hotel (think back to the 80's), the interior is an 'intriguing' contemporary mix of textures, sculptures and artwork, albeit a bit confused in places - the robot? The rooms are an average size and the bathrooms clean and modern with White Company products and the fluffiest white towels.

We ate in both restaurants, the Riverside for lunch and the Loch in the evening. The Riverside is a buffet format which we were blown away by, the variety and quality of the food was fantastic with desserts to die for, highly recommended. The Loch was more of a fine dining experience, again great cooking with exceptionally friendly and efficient service. As per their names, both restaurants are right on the Thames, which is great for a pre or post dinner walk alongside it.

A few minor 'attention to detail' things marred our stay, milk jugs left outside our door from previous guests for the duration of our stay, a wrong restaurant reservation, having to pay £2.15 for a very cheap looking disposable toothbrush because my friend forgot hers, not being able to enjoy a hot breakfast on the day of departure (be warned if you have an early flight to catch, breakfast starts at 7.45am at weekends)

Putting that aside, we did leave refreshed and very (very) well fed! I would make a return visit and would recommend this hotel, but possibly more for the restaurants than the hotel itself.
