“Very nice rooms and really helpful staff”

Runnymede Hotel & Spa

We booked this as part of a Legoland package. We found the rooms really comfortable and quite stylish. The hotel was able to give us adjoining rooms for the children which lots of hotels can't do. The reservation staff were really helpful getting the legoland tickets to us during the postal strike. One of our children was sick while staying and again they were incredibly helpful.

“We got married here!”

Runnymede Hotel & Spa

My Husband and I booked the Runnymede Hotel for our wedding in November 2006, we had the Magna Carta suite which over looks the river Thames.
The night before my Mum and stayed at the hotel and had a great modern comfortable and clean room with river views. Breakfast is included in the room price but of course I didn't eat much on the morning of the wedding although the day after I did and it was extremely good, hot full english is provided along with continental and fresh fruit.
From start to finish we were treated like royality by the staff, and I can't praise them enough they done a fantastic job, nothing left to chance and took away all our worries on the big day making it run without a hitch.
We were asigned Phil Noel as our wedding co-ordinator and we owe him everything, watching him work was just J Lo in the movie! He even stayed over night so he could be on hand the following day.
If your considering having your Wedding at the Runnymede do it.

Both my previous employer and my current one utilise this hotel as their first choice for any employees staying in Surrey, which speaks volumes about it I think.

Whilst your first impression of it may well be "why am I spending so much on staying in somewhere that looks like this?" as you sweep into the tarmac of the extensive car parking, and see what looks like a council housing block. However, as you walk through the revolving doors into the reception area, you will certainly notice that the interior does not match the exterior! The reception desk and porter are right there to your left as you walk in, and not once in my many stays have I had to wait longer than a minute to be able to check in, which is always a painless experience.

The rooms are well presented, with comfortable bedding and seats, with a spacious desk, and air conditioning. If you are lucky enough to be the riverside, you get some great views too. Whilst most hotels in this price range would provide flat panel LCD TV sets, the package at the Runnymede appears to be a high spec CRT unit, complete with a decent set of channels.

The bars and restaurants within the hotel itself are all great, but I advise booking early as both Leftbank and Charlie Bells can get full quite quickly. I'd suggest doing it as you check in. Likewise, breakfast can be quite full, but the fare offered is delicious, and plentiful.

The spa is fantastic, as is the pool and gym. I can highly recommend utilising them during your stay. Staff, both in the spa and fitness centre, and around the hotel, are helpful, and give the impression nothing is a bother.

Booked the stress free sunday package for two. Included in this was the 3 course lunch in the restaurant, full english breakfast, 30mins back massage and late checkout at 2pm. The sunday buffet lunch was lovely. We then went to our room which we upgraded to an excutive one. It had a view over the thames and a large balcony. At 3pm we went down to the spa for a massage and other treatments. Totally relaxed after this. The spa had a pool, steam and spa rooms, sun loungers and a gym.
This hotel was nice and clean and the staff were very helpful.
The breakfast again was a buffet and was very nice indeed. I would highly recommend the runnymede.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Runnymede on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. The exterior of the hotel is the biggest drawback, but i was prepared for this after reading other reviews. Inside is a vast improvement!
Staff are excellent (although a few struggle with English!), and we were allowed to check-in a few hours early.
The rooms are TINY (it reminded us of a cabin on a ship!), very compact, and we had a view of the M25. They are, however, clean, and have all the amenities you would expect (including a mini-bar kit-kat for £1.50!).
We had a massage each in the spa, which was wonderful. Excellent facilities, and very pleasant staff. The pool is nice, although there is only a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi in the main area (plunge pools in changing rooms).
We had dinner in the Leftbank restaurant, which was very good, although we paid a lot because we didnt have dessert and coffee (£28 for 2 courses, £29.95 for the full). Service was outstanding. Lunch in the Charlie Bells restaurant was ok, although it was packed and some others waited a long time to be served. Food is expensive for what it is.
The hotel was very noisy at night, LOTS of children (half term) who were mostly running around, knocking on room doors, or shouting down the corridor at 1am.
Breakfast was very good, they had put extra tables in the lounge area to cope with extra guests. Again, service was excellent.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but I wouldn't pay the same again (£170 a night), and I wouldn't recommend it to couples looking for a romantic stay, certainly not during school breaks.
