“Simply the Best...Kathy B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

Four sisters stayed here early July. Bernie was so accommodating, even bringing us crystal glasses and ice for our evening Irish whiskey nightcap. This B&B is super clean and a beautiful home. Bernie's Traditional Irish breakfast was delicious. As this is a working farm, we loved seeing the week-old and month-old calves. We would visit again in a heartbeat!

Three couples, old friends in our 60s, stayed three nights early June, and found this B&B clean, tastefully designed, decorated & furnished, with immaculate beautiful grounds in a quiet, pastoral setting. Bernie is a wonderful hostess, makes you feel at home right away, and cooks a fine breakfast. We could not have been more pleased with the place, Bernie's help with decisions about area attractions, and her recommendations for nearby eating & drinking establishments. The patio was delightful for afternoon tea, and the living areas were perfect for our planning sessions and after-dinner conversations. What a fine contrast following three days in Dublin. In sum, just a great experience!

We are two cousins with two elderly mums who have just spent 3 nights at Abocurragh B&B. It was very important that our mums would feel comfortable and relaxed. We chose this B&B due to the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, and we have to say it certainly lived up to its reputation.

Bernie gave us a lovely cup of tea with home-made cake on our arrival, and gave us lots of information about the locality. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated, with great attention to detail. The sittingroom was a lovely place to relax in the evening with plenty of magazines and books, including books about County Fermanagh and neighouring County Cavan.

Breakfast in the morning included a great choice of cereals, juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, home-made bread and a variety of cooked dishes. Unfortunately, we didn't stay long enough to sample everything on the menu! Nothing was too much trouble for Bernie - a wonderful hostess and obviously a great gardener too.

My mother and I have recently returned from a wonderful two night stay at Abocurragh farm house and have been talking about it ever since! Bernie is a very welcoming person and has been blessed with the gift of hospitality. She is warm, kind and sincere. On arrival, it was lovely to be offered a pot of tea and Bernie's homemade lemon and poppy seed cake, which was delicious! It was great to relax in a very comfortable and spacious lounge and mingle with other guests. The breakfast menu is wonderful; I have stayed in hotels were there was nowhere near the choice available here; it is also worth pointing out that preserves, wheaten, cranberry and pumpkin seed bread are home-made and wonderful. Also, the home-made Granola is something else!! I have never stayed at accommodation which offers smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast...! The family room we stayed in was so comfortable and the bed's mattress was just right! We were also very impressed with the spacious en-suite... as my mum kept saying, 'every detail has been cafefully planned!' The farmhouse is in an ideal location; close enough to Enniskillen and local villages, but rural and quiet, with beautiful views all around. Personally, I prefer the hospitality and friendliness of a B &B and, in my opinion, Abocurragh exceeds the hotel experience in every aspect; value for money, hospitality, cleanliness, standard of accommodation and food! This was my second time to stay at Abocurragh, although the first time was just for one night. I knew that my mother would really enjoy the experience of staying here and I was right! She hopes to come again soon with my father.... I could not recommend this special place highly enough and hope to return again myself again soon. Bernie and Gerry are truly lovely people and are priveleged to live in such a beautiful home and area...anyone who stays in their lovely home can be assured of a wonderful experience!

Dear Kathryn,
I am really touched by the wonderful and detailed review you posted about your visit to Abocurragh. It was a pleasure to chat with you and your mum and have you stay here with us. I do like to make my own bread and cakes for my guests and its lovely that you appreciate and enjoyed them.
Its part of the perks of our business to be able to meet and tap into peoples lives while they are here and your mum had some amazing life experiences, it was fascinating to hear them.
Look forward to hearing more sometime soon.
Bernie

We were thrilled to have a night with Gerry and Bernie and what a place! It's so luxurious in every way. Never before have I seen such a high rating on Trip Advisor with practically a full 'excellent' bar and I'm not surprised. I would go again just to stay for the experience and nothing else! If you're doing something anwhere in Fermanagh or Nth cavan - make the effort and go! Bernie and Gerry are perfect hosts!

My girlfriend Sarah and I spent one evening at Abocurragh while touring the Enniskillen area and it was an absolutely delight. We decided to take one night of our adventure away from the pubs, picked up a bottle of champagne and some cheese, and drove down the winding road to the house. As we approached there were sheep leaping over an ivy-draped fence to avoid our car. We couldn't have been happier.

The house is adorable. The views out back are wonderful. (Be sure to spend some time on the patio and soak in the setting sun.) And Bernie, the hostess, is not only sweet but she made perhaps the best Irish breakfast I had over the course of our 9 days. And sadly for my innards I had about 7 of them.

If we're back in the area we're not even considering staying somewhere else.
