“Fantastic friendly pub + big room + tasty breakfasts = fantastic stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2011

We recently stayed at this cracking family run pub when we were in Fowey for a wedding. Our room was large with a really comfortable bed, spotlessly clean and had a picturesque (partial) sea view. This was room 5. Admittedly Safe Harbour Inn is a tiny bit off the main tourist trail, which isn't exactly a bad thing. It's half way up a VERY steep hill though, but only a 5 minute energetic stroll from the centre as Fowey is a pretty small place.

The Full English/Cornish breakfasts are tasty and filling. You can also choose from a vegetarian one, 'something' on toast or even mackerel and eggs. Plenty of cereals, yoghurt, juices and toast were available to help yourself to as well. All staff were friendly and made us feel welcome.

If you're travelling by train the nearest station is 'Par' which is about 4 miles away, but the bus drops you right outside the front door.

Check out is officially at 10:30 but they kindly let us have an extra couple of hours when we asked which we appreciated. We'd love to stay again if visiting the area because in my opinion; as far as B&B's go it doesn't get much better than this.

We have stayed at The Safe Harbour Hotel for 12 years and although we have seen different landlords throughout that time we have always enjoyed our stay. Staff are brilliant.

Traditional inn with accommodation and parking [ a rare thing in Fowey]. Good pub food and ales, friendly staff and wonderful Cornish breakfast. Views to die for from most bedrooms that look over the roofs to the estuary and woods opposite. The bedrooms and access area has recently been decorated and up-graded with new carpets, furnishings etc. This is our favorite accommodation in Fowey and we go regularly.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Room was small-ish but ok. Lovely view of water. Bed was comfortable, en suite shower room was fine and there was plenty of hot water. Hotel has its own car park, which is very handy.

Being local we drink here fairly often but hadn't eaten before. We've been missing out! Delicious unpretentious food and the specials are even better. We had a trio of oven baked local fish and a veggie option of roasted mushrooms on a bed of risotto. Sadly we were so full we couldn't manage dessert. We will visit again for sure.

We were booked into room 4, which is good size double bedroom with a large en suite bathroom (with bath!!). Comfy bed with tea/coffee facilities and yummy biscuits! Small flatscreen tv on the wall with freeview channels. Plenty of hot water for showers. A property with character in a quaint setting. Great full cornish breakfast served by very friendly staff. Lovely bars downstairs, lounge and mainbar and they also serve meals which we didn't have this time. We have stayed before at the safe and the current owners have made and are continuing improvements. Car parking is available which is a major plus for a b n b in Fowey!

Only thing i would mention....is get rid of the net curtains in the restaurant as this hides the great view!
