“Rubbish food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

We went to the Ravensworth with a group of 10 people for a joint 60 birthday meal.
The service was very slow, with the time between courses being up to 30 minutes!
When the food did arrive the portion sizes were terribly small and in no way reflected the prices.
The starter of prawns and chilli dip was £6 and only came with 4 small prawns!
The food was also warm at best and one dish of tagliatelle had no pasta in it, it was entirely made of vegetables!!!
I had the Veneson burger and was told that it would come with chips AND onion rings, sadly only chips arrived with the dish, no sign of any onion rings!
Overall a very poor show indeed :(

Stayed a couple of nights for the Great North Run. The rooms are clean, cosy and a good size with good facilities. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always enough round to ask any questions. The location is quiet as it is a little out of town but easy to acess by bus or taxi. The food needs improving in the resturant, we ate there 2 twice for evening meal and breakfast and was not impressed by either.

Room Tip: No 14 is nice overlooking fields from the bedroom window.

We have visited the ravensworth a few times Before and vowed we Would never return as the manageress (short plump woman blonde hair an glasses) was very extremley rude to me last november, i had my child at this age 3 month old in arms walking around and walked up by the fire place when I was very rudley told i had to move because there was a wedding ceremony on, I told her I knew and was walking around with my baby to keep her setled instead of her screaming whilst the wedding was taking place. She then insisted I moved so I agreed and told out waitress that we didn't not want our food, paid for our drinks and left never to wanting to return !! We had been told from a friend that the food was beautiful and they had a 1/3 off
Voucher from a friend or family member that we could use at the pub so we tried again this week
We Visited the ravensworth on Monday night 17/09/12 around 8:30 myself and my husband were starving so decided to call in for tea. Walked in to be greeted immediately by a member of staff and shown to a table straight away (table 21)
We were then offered drinks and served by a Lovley young girl named Kim.
We ordered the chef and brewer starter platter which was great value for money, we then wanted the surf and turf to be informed by our waitress that there was non in stock, immediately she recommended for us to have the 8oz sirloin and just add the extra king prawns wich was even better as it works out cheeper than the surf ad turf anyways. Steaks were cooked to perfection and sent our compliments to the chef, we've only been back once so far and loved the service food and whole place

First time here, passed it loads of times. I went for the lunchtime menu and chose the Gammon and Egg... Lovely. Venue is clean and nice, family
Had various food and enjoyed it.. Definitely be back...

Although the menu was like wild bore and other weird options. I'm more likely to eat steak and chips than bore !!

We called in on our way back from the airport. Simple order, three burgers and one Chef and Brewer Chicken. Not exceptionally busy but we had to wait 30 minutes, happy to sit and chat. Unfortunately, the food appeared to sit too, it was cold. Burgers you could hold in your hand, fries at room temperature. Cold chicken with cold bacon. It was sent back and then we got the excuses, it was hot the burgers were 80C with the probe. We should have left then but needed to eat. Replacement meals arrived but I am not convinced it was fresh. No management intervention. Never will I return. So sad but the management are poor.

We stayed in a single-storey annexe to the main building. Very clean and comfortable room. Quiet location. We had an evening meal which was great - speedy service, good quality food and excellent value. Breakfasts were good, but service was rather more laid-back then. For example, we had to ask for mugs and bowls and someone from another table, evidently with the same problem, nabbed the mugs before I got to the table where they had been placed next to the flasks of help-yourself coffee. I got the impression that they were short-staffed at that time of day. Tip - go to breakfast as early as you can!
But this is only a small niggle; we will most probably be returning to the Ravensworth Arms, but next time we will be forewarned and we won't amble along to breakfast towards the end of their serving time!
