“Hotel OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

This hotel was a little difficult to locate, because the garage next door had a flapping sign blocking the one for Premier Inn! Because of this, we spent nearly an hour finding it! The receptionist wasn't surprised when I mentioned it, but didn't say he would pass on our concerns! The hotel itself was OK, (apart from a wi-fi problem), but had no in-house restaurant. The Taybarns eating place adjoining the hotel wasn't very appetising from the look of the food as we decided where to have our evening meal. We opted not to dine there, but went to one 5 minutes car journey away! Breakfast at Premier, however, was very good indeed, which made up for it!

A good location for a visit to the North East. Staff very helpful with information and ideas. Tayburn is a good eatery. Breakfast better than the evening meal, but all in all for the price a good deal.

Found hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Bedroom and bed very comfortable and could not hear any noise during the night. Only slight drawback was breakfast area next door had far too many children running around and very noisy, which is not the hotels fault. Would book again if we were in Newcastle as it is very convenient for the Metro.

Room Tip: No swimming pool or fitness centre. Stay the night but do not use the restaurant for a meal

We always stay here when we go to Newcastle for concerts, it's easy to find, has brilliant staff and clean rooms!!!
The chap that was on reception when we checked in was extremely pleasant, made us feel more than welcome and explained all we needed to know. He made us feel nothing was too much trouble.
As soon as we walked in our room the first thing I said was 'it smells clean!' And as usual the cleanliness was second to none, no issues at all! The bed was extremely comfortable and extra pillows were provided in the room in case you wanted them.
The fire alarm went off at 0630, we evacuated the building and the staff were so apologetic about the whole situation! The really annoying thing was that on the bathroom doors it says to keep the door shut whilst having a shower as the steam can set off the fire alarm. I later found out whilst checking out that that was what caused the alarm to activate. We got a letter under our door from management apologising (Although I didn't feel this was needed, at least the fire alarm works! If said person had closed the door like it says to it wouldn't have gone off!!)
The staff in the joining restraunt are just as good as in the premire in, and the food is good too.
My only little niggle about my stay was that the don't have proper loo roll, they have the single sheets that you would get in a pub. But that is total nit picking as I have nothing bad to say!
We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Stayed at the hotel for two nights with our wee one. Very helpful, friendly staff and walked into an immaculate, fresh smelling room. Absolutely no issues and very impressed. Clean and well catered room, wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel or staff to other travellers.
Two minutes from the Metro Centre, buffet restaurant next door (good food at great price as far as we were concerned) and ideal location for getting out and about.

This was our 4th visit to this hotel and as always the staff are excellent especially Suzanne who is a real credit to the hotel. It was myself and my 9yr old daughter who stayed for 2 nights (sun & mon) over the bank holiday weekend. Room (36) was spacious and clean. Experienced a little noise in the evening as our room was directly above the Taybarns restaurant, however this was not bad enough to complain about!! The only negative is that the room was far too hot for sleeping in, a stand alone fan was provided but this only circulated the air in the room. We ate in the adjoining restaurant which is very good value for money if you're travelling with children, it was busy but food was replenished promptly and was always piping hot.

We will definitely return to this hotel in the future as it's a great location to explore the north east.
