“Small and Well Preserved.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

A small house compared to some of the houses you can visit in the area. The rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The windows in each room also make the rooms so light and airy. The house is very much still a family home that is used for that purpose today. The family connection is to the Duke of Devonshire's. The gardens are beautiful. The staff and volunteers in the rooms are very knowlegable.

“Worth a visit, especially the gardens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

We went on a sunny day and it was a very pleasant outing. The house was interesting - there was a short talk at the beginning and then you walked round the house on your own. A shame there were no labels on the various items - there were people who you could ask, but it was a bit hit and miss what information you got. The gardens were well - worth a visit. Nicely laid out paths around the various gardens. A few more labels on the plants would have been useful to the non - horticulturists. Did not try the cafe, but bought a few things at the Food Hall. Overall worth at least one visit.

Lovely walk around the gardens and in the Hall. worth paying the extra to visit the Hall and gardens There is a coffee shop, farm shop and gift shop, which is free to enter. Can be a bit muddy under foot if it has been raining. Well worth a visit

“Garden Show June 2014”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

We had a fantastic day at Holker Hall on Friday. We arrived by train, a short walk and then we spent 4 hours walking around, looking at all the stalls and show gardens. We loved all the entertainment at the Arena. All staff/stewards that we came across were very helpful. Thank you to everyone, we will be back next year. The Harrisons, Ulverston

“Holker Garden Flower Festival.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

Lovely local Flower festival - just the right size, not too big, as some of them are today. Able to get around easily and see everything. Free parking was a bonus ! Lots of local produce on offer, which I like to see and buy. Gardens, floral arrangements, flower displays - beautiful marquees, and lots of plants to buy at very reasonable prices, couldn't resist them. Demonstrations, childrens' amusements, stands selling everything to do with the garden and plenty with nothing to do with the garden ! So something for everyone, a true family day out.
