My daughter and I have very happy family memories of this gorgeous area and wanted a quick fix to keep us going for another year. We usually opt for self catering but this was an overnight trip so we chose Corner Beech House. We were able to check in at 10.30 which is very helpful so we could drop our bags off before our sightseeing. Our room was very clean, the bed linen crisp and white, the bathroom was well equipped and the views were wonderful. A sofa in the room is a nice touch, as it means you can enjoy a cuppa after a long day, sitting down properly rather than sitting on the bed. Not everyone likes a communal lounge having to make small talk with strangers.
Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice, local produce, freshly cooked and we were not rushed.
2 small suggestions though. If we wanted to speak to our hosts we had to ring the front doorbell, perhaps a bell in the hall would be better, or by the office. We felt a bit daft ringing the doorbell to ask for more sugar in our bedroom, so we didn't! Secondly, our hosts. Catherine was very friendly, helpful and interesting to talk to, but we can only assume we met Neil as the man who served us breakfast did not introduce himself or talk to us apart from taking our order. Perhaps he is shy but a quick ' hello, how are you', would have been friendlier!! I hope these suggestions are taken in the spirit they were meant. We would not hesitate to visit again and would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay here too!!
