We have stayed at this Haven site about 4 times - my sister and her husband live in the North East, we live in Wales, so it is an ideal spot for us to get together for a few days We both had Sun Deals. My sister upgraded their caravan, we did not.The first caravan my Sister was allocated was not very good, but she was given another much better one immediately with no fuss. Ours was very nice from the start, and both were clean and well equipped..There was very heavy rain on the first night which left huge puddles round the site, but everywhere drained off very quickly, so no trouble moving the cars. We did not use the site facilities except for the shop, where goods were reasonably priced. We did look at the indoor pool, which looked clean and well cared for, and full of toddlers keeping out of the rain.

Room Tip: Pot luck really - but if you are not happy, say so at reception

Stayed here for 1 week paid extra for a 2011 model which we had no problems with, was clean and tidy and also had heating in the bedrooms which was a bonus. The site was quite small and the entertainment facilities were even smaller not enough facilities on site. The chip shop is very expensive and you only have a choice of 3 meals, fish&chips, pie&chips or sausage&chips costing £6.95 each. Most of the staff are very unfriendly especially the reception staff who have got such a big chip on their shoulders. The nearest shopping area is kendal which is about 30 min drive also about the same distance to windermere. DO NOT waste your money going to duckys farm it took us 15 mins to walk round it and all we seen was sheep, pigs, and donkeys it is really run down and is well over priced at £6.00 per adult and children under 2 were free. Would return to the lakes but defo not to this site.

We went to Lakeland on the Sun deal. It wasn't our main holiday so all we wanted was a clean place to sleep for a few days that allowed pets. We got half of that. It's an additional £20 per dog per week and then you can only stay in selected caravans. I understand that these caravans will often be under par as there are people out there that don't respect property or that don't have well behaved animals... but none of that excuses the bathroom. It smelled of urine and there was urine and stains on the seat and porcelain where it hadn't been cleaned. You should not turn up to a destination and have to go straight to the shop to buy bleach before you unpack. I cleaned the bathroom and mopped throughout and you should have seen the colour of the water, I had to change the water twice and I even bleached the mop before starting! I doubt the floors had been cleaned properly for a long time.

The pool was clean, Spar shop was relatively reasonable in terms of price, staff were friendly and I liked that there was someone outside reception collecting keys at checkout so you didn't need to park up and walk all through the entertainment area. In addition, we arrived 30 minutes before check-in but we didn't have to wait. That was much appreciated.

The dog walk area was just a long thin strip of grass and was not sufficient for any dogs larger than a Westie. I was particularly disappointed with this as the purpose of staying at Haven is so we can take the dogs with us. At other Haven sites the dog walk areas were far superior.

I appreciate that if you have children, you're looking for different things to us. We were a couple with two dogs, looking for a few days of walking, sight seeing and relaxing.

The location isn't quite as good as expected. However, as we wanted to explore the Lake district it didn't matter too much. It was half an hour to most places of interest nearby - Windermere, Kendal, Coniston, Hawkshead. We will definitely be going back to the Lakes, but not to this site.

We normally go camping in the Highlands, but fancied a change. We opted for Haven because we wanted entertainment for our 4 year old daughter and chose to explore the Lake District. We arrived about 6pm and collected our key from security. We'd booked a prestige caravan which had a tv/dvd and heating in the bedrooms. The caravan was spotlessly clean and well equiped and the heating was on in the bedrooms when we arrived. Our daughter loved the tots disco and the zoo troop shows at night. The only problem we had was that the lights didn't work one evening, but security arrived within 2 minutes of our phone call and sorted it. The staff we met were friendly and helpful and we had a great holiday. The Lake District is well worth exploring and we will definately be going back.

Stayed here for 3 nights bank hol weekend with husband, sister in law, her husband and 2 kids - 2 and 4 years.
Booked a Standard Plus Caravan and took our own bed linen. Kids room was fine with bunkbeds and wardrobe space, one double room which was ok and then a tiny room with just 2 single beds in for me +my husband! You couldnt move. Id advise taking own bedding as theirs wasnt up to much, caravan was clean apart from previous guests old slippers left in wardrobe!
But it did us for afew nights, The living area was big enough and kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast.
The actual site is poor. The kids club was a joke, It was an hour in the morning but kids were bored, staff did try their best but you could tell they werent paid enough to bother!
Night time entertainment was rubbish. Bar always massive queue and not enough seats or staff.
Swimming pool ok no slides or anything.
No beach near by really just a bay, we went into Flookborough - again nothing major to do. rained nearly whole trip so an indoor softplay would have been nice.
One chip shop on site nothing else for miles.
Wouldnt return to this Haven. Prefer Butlins, worth paying the extra when you have kids to keep entertained.

This was our second visit to the Lakeland Leisure Park and we enjoyed it again. We were upgraded to a Prestige Caravan which was a 2011 model in the quiet Cartmel area like we wanted. If you have any special requests contact reception prior to arrival as they are always really helpful with us. Caravan was very clean and spacious with great storage facilities. We also had our own parking space right next to the caravan which was good.

Entertainment was good. It isn't the biggest of Haven sites but great as a base for visiting the Lakes. We went on the Windermere Lake Cruises and really enjoyed that and visited Bowness and Ambleside. Although the weather wasn't the best we all still had fun.

Room Tip: If you have any special requests contact reception before and ask.
