“a place to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

We - a group of six - stayed two nights at the Brooklynn and had a really good time there. Alan and Sylvia are perfect hosts - warm, friendly, communicative, open for a good joke
and helpful in every aspect. The house is an experience, the rooms are unique and provide everything you need.
The food was excellent - we booked including dinner - as well as the choice of drinks. Well worth it!
A very nice garden plus cats to cuddle completed the "feel well atmosphere".
We'll be back sooner or later!

Thank you! It wa a pleasure to have you staying with us. We enjoyed the fun at dinner - especially the waitering lessons! We look forward to welcoming you all back to Brooklynn in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. There is still such a lot for you to do and see here. We look forward to your next visit - so are the cats. All the best, Alan and Silvia

This BB is just perfect: very good location to spend a few nights and travel around and maybe have a few Whyski. The house itself is a great adventure, full of interesting objects from all over the world. The room cosy and spotless make you feel like home. If you decide to stay there don't miss the dinner, it is just wonderful. Alan and Silvia are amazing cooks and also very helpfull and friendly owners. Don't miss this special BB if you plan to go to Scotland, it will make your experience unique.

It is nine years since we first discovered Brooklynn and in that time we have stayed six times, but the 1200 mile round trip has meant it had been four years since we last stayed with Alan and Sylvia. It was as good as ever, indeed even better. The hosts were as welcoming as ever and nothing was too much trouble. We spent four nights and were wonderfully looked after. The rooms were clean and pleasant, the breakfasts were superb and we had an excellent evening meal including goats cheese starter, salmon for main course and a sweet. I often used B and Bs when travelling on business and this is the best I have found - strongly recommend.

Alan, thank you for writing such favourable comments on Brooklynn. It really does not seem like 6 times you have visited us over the years. We must have met most of the family by now! We are already looking forward to the seventh visit and will look forward to looking after you all again.

Keep well, all the best, Alan and Silvia

It's easy to rate this guest house 5 stars. This is why:

1. Brooklyn is perfectly located in Grantown-on-Spey. No matter if you're up for the Whiskey trail getting hammered or kill your lungs hiking up the Cairngorm mountains. 2. The house is a feel good place extraordinaire. Stuffed with uncounted, private memorabilia, art , furniture or "junk", as Alan says. You immediately feel like home, love to spend time in the lounge or the unique rooms, that carry no room numbers but Single Malt blends.
3. Silvia and Alan Woodier are exemplary hosts. They care, help, love conservation, are open minded and traveled the world.
4. You MUST book a dinner! Not only is Silvia a gifted cook, the food is fresh, local and some is provided by the beautiful garden behind the house.
5. Frequently requested services like parking (behind the house), Wi-Fi (fast!), cleanliness etc. are provided. Also, it's a green house (energy saving, recycling etc.).

So, if you stay here, be nice, don't worry there's no door keys, pay cash and cuddle the cats.

Thank you very much and welcome back to Brooklynn any time - don't wait until retirement.

This is the sixth year in a row that my wife and I and some friends have visited Grantown for the golf week and stayed at Brooklynn Guest House. We were not dissapointed! The accommodation was as good as ever and the food was still superb; great breakfasts and wonderful evening meals.
Alan and Silvia, as usual, were the perfect hosts.
After a round of golf we spent some very enjoyable time with our friends in Alan and Silvia's back garden playing cards and eating delicious strawberries straight from the garden.
If you want a comfortable room, great food and first class hosts look no further than Brooklynn.
The weather was also very kind to us in what has been a dreadful summer.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front are sunny in the morning but those to the rear are more private and overlook the...

Thank you too for making your stay so pleasant for us - even though there are now no strawberries left! We are already looking forward to next year's Golf Open and your annual visit to Grantown. Please say 'hello' to all the others and welcome back soon.

All the best from the beautiful, if a wee bit wet today, Cairngorms National Park in the wonderful Highlands of Scotland!

Travelling for work I have stayed in many B and B's, but I have to say that The Brooklyn was hands down the best! Alan and Silvia were amazing attentive hosts, ready to assist with any request. The rooms were beautiful and large and the attached bath was surprisingly spacious. The breakfasts were gourmet treasures with many homemade (yoghurt, fruit coulis, jams) and locally sourced items. The fresh fruit salad followed a custom cooked breakfast were the perfect way to start the day. The quirky decorating, a product of travels around the world, just added to the overall charm of Brooklyn. I highly recommend if you are staying in the Strathspey area to stay with Alan and Silvia at the Brooklyn Guest House!!!

We had a lovely stay with Silvia and Alan for three nights, enjoying their hospitality, surroundings and cooking to the full. Brooklyn is a grand base in Speyside to access all the goodies the area has to offer - walking, cycling, distillery visits! After a gap of nine years it was as if we had been regular visitors, such was the welcome Silvia and Alan gave us. The home made food and cooking just adds to the overall personal touch which makes this such a pleasant place to stay - we hope to return sooner next time!

Well, thank you for your review. Even though it was 9 years since your last visit, it was still a great pleasure to welcome you back. Thank goodness the weather was not too bad for your cycling and distillery jaunts. Although we are the longest established Guest House in Grantown - will we still be here in 9 years time? Don't wait so long! Thank you. Alan and Silvia
