As soon as we arrived at Ravenscourt House and was warmly greeted by Keith and Sheila we knew that we had chosen a good hotel to stay at. The hotel has excellent public rooms, which are comfy and well decorated. The restaurant and breakfast room in the conservatory is a delightful place to dine being bright and light and comfortable. The food can only be described as excellent. The only negative thing I would say, about the food, is that the menu did not change greatly. We stayed for 6 nights and the dishes were mostly the same each night with slight alteations, having said that they were all supurbly tasty and well presented. We dined there for 5 nights ! Our room was lovely but the bathroom was very small but to be fair we were offered the choice of another room but chose to remain where we were. Keith and Sheila have plans to make further alterations to the rooms and this is one that they plan to change. As hosts they are first class. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We left as friends. They are entertaining, helpful and keith is a born comedian. The hotel is 100yds from the main street and it is a good centre to be based at. Would we return ? Yes most certainly.

“Disappointing”

Ravenscourt House Hotel

The worst feature of this Hotel was the authoritarian, arrogant and grudging attitude of the proprietors. Charming on the telephone, but different during our stay. Little attempt was made to accommodate even our simplest wish, and even then the response was resentful. We felt we were more tolerated than welcomed.

Dinners (three nights in a row) were poorly cooked and unappetising. The desserts also fell far short of reasonable expectations. In short, we find it difficult to believe that “Scotland’s third-best chef” was cooking for us.

The Ravenscourt was clean, and one of our two double bedrooms did have a luxury en-suite. The Hotel was far too expensive for the quality of food served and service received. (We paid £71.00 pppn for dinner B&B).

We booked a stay of three nights at this Hotel as we wished to be well placed for a visit to Royal Deeside as well as the Cairngorms.

Keith and Shelia have owned the Ravensourt House Hotel for just about a year now. Clearly there have been some minor changes made to the facilities offered referred to on a review I read on another site that promotes Tourism in Scotland. None of the changes however detracted from our stay.

The Hotel is so comfortable. We had a lovely room that had a reasonable sitting area as well as a king size bed. There was also lots of storage space. The en-suite shower room was very clean and the shower was adequate. The only small criticism was that the wash basin was in the room not in the bathroom! I suppose that reflects the age of the property and the improvements that have been made in stages over the years.

The restaurant was superb and as somebody has mentioned in an earlier review, Fiona is a star! We had three very good meals and the menu changed, although not entirely, every night. That said it was still quite difficult to make a choice!

Overall this Hotel provides very good value for money and a really comfortable stay. We wish Keith and Sheila every success with this venture.

We stayed one night at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hotel room was very comfortable, dinner was terrific and Keith and Sheila were great hosts. The 15 minute walk down to the Spey river is a relaxing after-dinner stroll. If you enjoy scotch whiskey, be sure to take advantage of Keith's knowledge and recommendations.
