Had the misfortune to book this hotel. This beautiful building is a disgrace inside. All communual areas and the room that they expected us to stay in were in need of a good clean and a lick of paint. . The room was like a cell and the bathroom was likened to something out of a 1970's style caravan. The bar did not open until 5 pm which was not a great start to our holiday. The staff were unhelpful until I phoned my agent to try and get my money back. There was no way we could have stayed there. Thankfully we were moved. Another couple did the same and a few residents actually walked out. They need to shut this hotel down and totally refurbish it from top to bottom.

“Dreadful experience”

Upon arriving at the hotel we were impressed by the frontage and looked forward to the continued luxury inside, we were to be very disappointed! Having booked a double room we were dismayed to find ourselves in a twin this was only the beginning of the problems. The en suite facilities were housed in what can only be described as a cupboard in the corner of the room. Upon opening the sliding door we were confronted with the smell of damp carpet and a "room" 6ft by 3ft. The shower cubicle was a fibreglass box and the shower inside dated from around 1974! The furniture in the room was broken flat pack with doors and handles hanging off. All in all, not what we expected to find. We immediately complained to the manager and were told there was nothing she could do to help us. We decided to leave and stayed at another hotel in Grantown for the weekend. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who expects a modern level of cleanliness and facility when booking a break.

I had the pleasure of a one night stay here with my husband and young grandson. The triple room had everything we needed. Huge, clean and cosy room overlooking the lovely gardens and pond at the front of the hotel. Huge bathroom with bath and shower. Staff were unobtrusive but on hand if needed, and friendly and efficient. Meals were gorgeous, and excellent choice. Beds very comfortable, no noise at night apart from the odd car passing by, but nothing that would keep you awake. Beautiful surroundings and loads to do in the area. We can't wait to go back!

My wife and I stayed there 13th to 17th Feb and had a great time.Lovely room and great food. The East continental waiting staff are a brilliant lot and nothing is to much trouble for them. They also seem to possess a great sense of humour which added to the enjoyment of meal times. I also thought the bar prices were very reasonable. We will return again in the not to distant future.
