What a refeshing find. Having travelled extensively round Scotland it is so refreshing to find at last a hotel that meets your expectations:Great food,Lovely rooms,Peace and quiet,Good Hosts and Value for money.

The rooms are sumptious and well appointed and have been refurbished to a very high standard with wonderful ensuites.

It was so welcoming to come in on a winters day to a real fire that was on ! and have afternoon tea served with homebaking.

Evening meals were FANTASTIC with a wide selection of wines to suit all budgets. It's great to find a place where all the food is freshly prepared and served to you ,unlike some of the larger hotels.

Well worth a visit as there are no shortage of activites in the area to suit everybody.

“A Wonderful experience”

We have just returned from a 4 day break to Culdearn House Hotel and felt we just had to share our experience with fellow travellers. On arrival we were welcomed by William and Sonia, the Owners, and shown to our room. The decor was outstanding and the quality and attention to detail was superb.
In fact, we had everything we could wish for even Crabtree & Evelyn bubble bath for the huge bath! The room was spotlessly clean and imaculate in every detail with crisp pure white Egyptian cotton sheets, towels and bath robes ,we were in heaven. We thought it couldn't get any better until we had dinner. The food was first class, fresh local Scottish beef and salmon fresh vegetables all cooked to perfection. The desserts were 'to die for' and an extensive wine list to choose from too. Would we go back again ? definately. William and Sonia were the 'perfect' hosts and made us very welcome and comfortable in their beautiful home.

The hotel is immaculate and spotlessly clean. One is slightly afraid of making a mess. The food is very good and nicely presented and our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Overall, however, we did not feel Culdearn offered particularly good value for money. £85 pppn for DBB might be just about OK in the high season, but not mid-week in October. £65 to £70 would be nearer the mark. By comparison, we also stayed one night at the Macdonald Pittodrie House, which was as good and better in some respects, for £66.50 pppn. Be aware that the booking conditions at Culdearn are quite stringent. They take a £50 or £100 non-refundable deposit, and only confirm the booking after they have charged your card. It seems they may not accept cancellations within 14 days of the booking, most hotels accept cancellations 24 or 48 hours before, some even less. We were informed that bad weather is not an excuse for cancellation.

The proprietrix is rather cool and somewhat aloof. The proprietor on the other hand is very affable, and his nonchalant almost “happy go lucky” manner is a foil for the Mistress of the House. There are quite a lot of rules and regulations at Culdearn.

Very nice welcome with offer of coffee or tea in longe, Beautiful room, wonderful food and wine, from list to cater for all wallets!
Attentive hosts, who made us feel more than welcome, and were happy to spent time over after dinner drinks, Highland hospitality at its best! Looking forward to a return visit, would recommend you try this lovely friendly hotel.

“Good and bad”

Culdearn House

The place is spotless, and the food good. Wine is pricey.
An enormous problem is the hospitality.
We had no problem with the 'Master of the House', but the lady could not have made us feel less welcome.
Introducing herself as 'Mrs xxx' she made off and offered not a further pleasant word during our stay.
The heating appeared to be off when we returned from out and about on our second day - the morning towels, which had not dried overnight, were still damp in the evening. The towel rail was cold, and remained so.
There was objection, which I accept, to our charging golf trolley batteries in our room ( we have done this all over the UK and Europe), and considerable resentment resulted from our comment re the damp towels.
We abandoned our five night holiday after three.
