“The most wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is the second time we have stayed at the Dulaig and it was again really amazing. The warm welcome, great home cooked food, beautifully furnished house and lovely gardens meant we didn't want to leave! Carol and Gordon put their hearts and souls into creating a top quality place to stay and into making your stay special. If you are visiting the area it is a must to stay there. We are already planning our next visit.....

Thank you very much Denise for your wonderful review.
Once again it was an absolute pleasure to have you stay with us, especially at such an important time as a birthday! It is lovely to read such kind words and great to hear you are planning to come back to The Dulaig ...let's hope the weather is as kind and the skies just as clear for stargazing next time!

I'm about a year late with this review, and I'm rather hesitant to put it on here, as in one way I'd like The Dulaig to be a secret. BUT, here goes.
The Dulaig is my favourite favourite place to stay. I've been twice, now, and hopefully the next time won't be too far away. It's somewhere to book and go to for a special weekend or a celebration event. Carol and Gordon are wonderful hosts, and their idea of a B&B coincides with everything I'd ever want. They are so lovely, welcoming and interesting. Their house is gorgeous - comfy, warm, immaculate, and full of fascinating Arts & Crafts period furniture. I've only ever visited in winter, but even then, their garden is full of interest, what with Peter the pheasant, all the ducks, and lots of interesting plants and trees.
And what can I say about the breakfast? In my opinion it is the best breakfast I've ever had in any hotel or B&B. Better than any fancy 5* hotel.
All in all, a real treat.

Room Tip: There are three rooms, all lovely, and all different. Best to phone up or email and discuss what yo...

My husband and I first stayed at The Dulaig for two nights in December 2009 while on our honeymoon. To say that we were blown away by this B&B and our hosts would be putting it mildly! It all started with a very warm and friendly welcome by Carol and Gordon, and just got better and better from there. The house and grounds are simply stunning and bear testimony to the attention to detail and love that Carol and Gordon have poured into this place. The bedrooms are spacious and elegantly furnished, with all the little touches you could ever want, including delicious home-baked goodies compliments of the elusive Cake Fairy. Our bed was so comfortable that we could have easily slept until lunchtime the next day. That would have been a huge mistake, though, given the absolutely sumptuous breakfast that awaited us the next morning in the dining room. We realized that we had found a rare gem of a B&B, with hosts who truly go the extra mile and obviously love what they do in a place that immediately makes you feel right at home. The Dulaig put the icing on the cake for our honeymoon!

Since such memorable experiences are definitely worth repeating, we have been back to The Dulaig several times to enjoy more R&R. We are happily looking forward to an upcoming stay at this little slice of heaven and also seeing Peter (the pheasant, not the Saint) and family, Amber the cat and the hens---and hopefully even a hedgehog and some red squirrels!

Carol and Gordon Bulloch are exceptional people and have created an exceptional B&B in The Dulaig. Many other reviewers have covered the property in detail. Highlights for me: the owners, Carol and Gordon are truly nice, interesting, and warm people. In many other B&B's I've stayed at the owners might be there briefly only at arrival and departure, but that certainly is not the case with Gordon and Carol. I had initially planned on going for a walk and take photos before dinner, but got caught up talking to Gordon, he was so interesting. Secondly, they have done amazing things with the home interior, managing to bring this early 20th C house into the 21st century, but maintaining period architectural details. They obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the renovation and it shows. The public spaces are simply gorgeous. Third, the garden. Though they describe it as a work in progress, it looked finished to me. The local birdlife certainly enjoy it. Finally, breakfast was awesome. Carol's bircher muesli is out of this world; I've been to Switzerland and Germany several times and this should win a prize! Everything was fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, I had only one day to stay, as I was bicycling through, and was without my wife, which is a pity. I could easily spend a week here, and enjoy the Cairngorms and surrounding area, which are quite beautiful as well.

We selected the Grantown-on-Spey location to be within easy driving distance of the various distilleries in the area, close enough to walk into town for dinner, but not in a busy city, and are glad we did. The location was perfect, and the Dulaig was even better than what we had hoped. Carol and Gordon, the proprietors, have created a lovely oasis. First, the house is beautifully appointed with all modern amenities and lovely touches throughout. It was delightful to feel the warmed tile under my feet in the bathroom each morning. The bathroom soaps and lotions are to die for. There was sherry and unique home-baked treats each night waiting for us in our room. The yard is spectacular, with a duck pond, flowers, and wildlife all around, as well as nooks to sit and enjoy the the scenery. Breakfast is amazing, not only for the home-made quality and freshness of everything that is served, but also for the presentation that makes everything look almost too lovely to eat (almost, since eat it we did!).
We visited the major distilleries along the whisky trail, and none was more than 30 minutes away. Each evening, we walked into town for dinner, and, although Grantown-on-Spey is small, we were able to eat at a different restaurant each of the three nights we were there. But the Dulaig, Carol, and Gordon, really made the visit special: definitely a five-star B&B experience.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay at The Dulaig and could not fault a thing! From the moment you arrive Carol and Gordon make you feel very special and the surprise goodies left in our rooms each day were amazing. It was great to be able to sit in the drawing room and watch all the activity in their fabulous garden. We were certainly sad to say goodbye and have been talking about our visit ever since, we definitely hope to visit Carol and Gordon again before we return to Australia at the end of the year. Wish we could give six stars!!

As you can see from every reviewer of this B&B, there are no other innkeepers in this area to match Gordon and Carol. Certainly, everything about their B&B is special: the very finest linens around, the wonderfully luxuriant toiletries, the most delicious breakfasts imaginable. In July 2010, we spent three nights leading up to my 50th birthday. When we awoke for breakfast that last morning, banners, balloons, and much more were awaiting us. We have never experienced as much warmth, hospitality and caring from those running such establishments as we did from this very special couple. Their driving tips, their restaurant recommendations, their suggestions for places to visit were all spot-on. And their love of gardening and the critters that lived in their bucolic home was just what we needed (we loved Peter the Pheasant and his court). We WILL be back! Can we give you 6 stars?
