my self and my friend stayed there for a few days at the begining of september. We did not experience the warm welcome that was advertised. We were made to feel awkward about our
choices for dinner as even though a chef worked there he couldnt get things in before hand and we had to pay upfront for our meals even though we didnt know what we wanted and he could not tell us in advance what he would be planning to cook. so we only had one dinner.
The lady owner was rude to me when i said about me and my friend nearly falling off the mattress when we tried it out. she said i wasnt exactly tiny which i thought was rude but didnt say anything at the time as didnt want to get kicked out as we had to pay upfront for our room, so couldnt go anywhere else. Also accused us of slamming doors which we didnt do. we were glad to be going home.

These two ladies stayed with us for 4 nights at the beginning of September, and it was arranged prior to their arrival that they would have evening meals on all four nights. After discussion with them over the phone we shopped for the first two nights (one of them being a vegetarian). We are small guest house so cannot hold a large amount of stock.

Contrary to what they say, we did extend to them a warm welcome on their arrival, and the lady who was a vegetarian presented us with a A4 sheet listing all her likes and dislikes. Her preferences included branded vegetarian ready meals and pizza, which is not what we serve, even down to various drinks, including Dr Pepper and certain branded tea bags! Neville has worked as a chef all his life, including Head Chef in various hotels, and we only serve freshly cooked food. They had two separate meals on the first night, one was a large pork chop, with apple sauce and the other cod with prawn butter, both with new pots, asparagus and green beans, which they complimented Neville on, but then decided they didn't want to eat in any more so the rest of the food we had bought specifically for them was wasted. We obviously weren't given a chance to discuss with them their next meals.
We did not accuse them of slamming doors - it's just not possible, as they are self closing fire doors in line with fire regulations, but if you don't hold them as they close they do bang, so we had to ask them to hold the doors just as they close, as we do with may of our guests, so as not to disturb others.
They then complained that the tv contrast kept changing, and I had to point out to them that it is a flat screen tv and obviously you can't watch it from the side !!
They booked a twin room, which is obviously two single beds. Without going into detail this was not appropriate for one of the ladies. We never intentionally mis-sell rooms, but occasionally a room may not be appropriate for the person arriving, which is out of our control.
This is the first review of this nature we have had in over six years, which surely says something for the way we conduct our business, and obviously anyone can view our reviews on our website and various other sites.
