I visited this hotel (on a coach group holiday) in July this year, and the holiday accommodation was sorely lacking. I had been to the same hotel only a few months previously, but there was a big difference this time.
The hotel was full to the rafters, and my group was relegated to an overflow dining area accessed through the bar/lounge, not the dining room with seaviews and dual aspect!.
My room was on the first floor, with a great view of the beach opposite the hotel, however during possibly the hottest week of the year, my window didn't open, it was sealed shut. The curtains didn't come together, and as there was no net curtains , I used a safety pin to hold the curtains closed to protect my modesty!
The bathroom door and décor needed attention..
The problems with my room were addressed to the best of his ability by the manager, who gave me an electric fan to attack the heat, and arranged for the handyman to fix the curtains with pulllcords. The door damage in the bathroom and broken toilet roll holder was also addressed.
I was told that the windows facing the beach are of listed status. To mend them would be too costly, so they have been sealed to prevent further deterioration. Net curtains are not provided as they would not be in keeping with the look of the building frontage.
I think Great Yarmouth is a lovely place to visit, but I will not be returning to the Nelson any time soon. The difficulties seemed to arise from the fact that the hotel was absolutely full, catering for two coach parties , and there was no way that they could cope.

I was very sorry to read your comments. We agree that there are some areas and rooms which need upgrading within the hotel, however we pride ourselves on the level of service provided, I am sorry that you did not find this to be the case on this occasion.
