“Great Hotel”

Cliff Hotel

Apr 2, 2008

I stayed at the cliff hotel with my partner and our 10yr old son, we booked a family room which was very comfortable for what we wanted. The view was great- out over the harbour, unfortunately we stayed on Good Friday and to say the weather was bad was an understatement! torrential rain ,snow ,gales- we had the lot!
Needless to say we decided to eat in the hotel and we we not disappointed. We chose from the wide choice on the bar menu, the food arrived promptly and was delicious and good sized portions even for my son who ordered of the childs menu.
The bar seems to be a popular choice with the locals which is a good sign .We had a very good cooked breakfast the following morning with plenty of choice.
The Cliff Hotel staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. We would definately return but hopefully in better weather!!

“In Gorlestone not Great Yarmouth”

Stayed one night in December, it was a nice, very friendly hotel. The room was spacious, beds comfortable, decor a little tired. It's located in Gorleston - across the River from Gt Yarmouth - nice and peaceful but close enough to get into the town easily and easier out into the countryside and up to Norwich etc.

We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and they were very good (the breakfast sausages were particularly good).

They have started a refurbishment programme to re-do the rooms and are doing one room at a time - so there was no problem with noise or anyything but should result in some even better rooms.

We stayed for a weekend in November. We had been before and will return again when in the area.

The rooms are very good. We have had some just ok ones but this time we got a very good room. The food has always been to a high standard with good service and a good choice and this time it was just as good. The fish for breakfast is particularly good.

We arrived late on the Friday and had booked a late evening meal. Even though it was late the staff were helpful and the meat was not rushed.

The hotel was ideally placed for the beach.

I would recommend this hotel.

for the first time in ages I booked this hotel without checking tripadvisor and when I did I was some what sorry as the reviews were dreadful. we arrived for the weekend and were both greeted by a friendly receptionist and were is our room within minutes and that included booking the restaurant. The room was large and had a king size bed. It had a large table and two armchairs.

We ate in the hotel both evenings and the meals were delicous as were the breakfasts. The food was of a high quality and I could not find fault, although as previosuly stated not all the breakfast items were available but what was were plentiful and delicious. If you do go here have an omelette for breakfast I thoroughly recommend them! All the restuarant staff were lovely especially young charlotte.

we spoke to the reception staff who advised us on several walks and where not to go. There is not much night life out of season but to be honest we had both wanted a rest so after a days walking dinner and watching tele was fine.

There were not that many in the hotel this being the middle of March but each of the couples that we spoke to were repeat bookings and probably not the kind of person to write reviews for trip advisor.

On the way to the hotel we stopped of at Northwold a place which is worth a visit.

I've had the Cliff as my base a few times when I've been shuttling offshore working for Conoco and it has always been a good experience.

The location is great - just a few meters from the beach, the rooms are fine and the food in the restaurant is good (I noticed a huge leap in quality if you go for the higher priced options on the menu though, it's definitely worth spending a few pounds extra on the meals...)
