“Warm, comfortable and welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Visually this hotel is nothing special outside or in, which meant I was disappointed on first arrival. However, it is one of the most comfortable places I have stayed. Whilst the bed and bath rooms, decoratively speaking, were not worthy of comment, they were clean, contained everything I needed and were extremely comfortable to use/sleep in. The food was fine. The decor in the 'Wallis Simpson' restaurant was a joy. It displayed many photos of our dear? queen and late queen mother - both of whom hated Mrs Simpson. Amusing, but perhaps not purposely done? The staff were very helpful, pleasant and friendly. Were I to visit Halifax again, I would be more than happy to stay at the Imperial Crown.

Very quiet at the time of my visit, and the room was clean, comfortable and reasonable value for money. The public rooms are rather old fashioned for my taste, but some people would revel in the " old fashioned charm". Some minor maintenance issues would improve things noticeably. Highlight for me was the excellent service received from all the staff I interacted with, they could not have done better.

Dear Reviewer,

How kind of you to take the time and trouble to record your observations following a brief stay at the Imperial Crown Hotel in Halifax.

The hotel is indeed in the old style dating back from before the turn of the century in keeping with the rest of historic Halifax’s central district. Needless to say, your point concerning the consequential maintenance issues is well taken.

I have taken the liberty of sharing your liberal comments about house-keeping standards, value for money and, of course, the excellent service you received with my team. Thank you.

With best regards,

John

This hotel is definitely not worth £99 per night but if they offer a deal.. Compared to Premier Inn, which is their biggest competitor in Halifax - beds are comfortable but they don't offer additional pillows ; street facing rooms could do with double glazing - thus preventing me having to hear a chav with his disco car radio at 2am ; restaurant menu is good value but very very limited in choice ; lack of a lift will hold this hotel back..luckily I was just on the first floor ; breakfast was luke warm and served with bad (99p shop ??) coffee. But this was replaced with Twyings tea. Why buy decent tea but appalling coffee ?Toast came with butter but no jam. Meal times differed in the rooms to on the menus

Staff are very friendly. The rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious. A more ambitious restaurant menu ; better breakfast and double glazing and this hotel would go from being an ok hotel to a great hotel. It has the history and charm and nice staff ; it is also centrally located ; just a bit of a shame at the lack of attention to detail.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for posting your helpful comments on Tripadvisor following your recent visit to the Imperial Crown Hotel. Likewise the completed guest comment card you left behind was similarly beneficial to me.

I regret that you were disturbed by a late night reveller and that aspects of the breakfast service were disappointing. Needless to say, your observations on the latter have received attention and the employees responsible for those shortcomings have been duly reprimanded on your behalf.

Since your visit a new restaurant dinner menu has been introduced and one hopes that it will find favour with guests going forward.

In closing, may I add that your extremely kind remarks about the friendly staff and the house-keeping standards were very much appreciated.

With best regards,
John

Parking over the road is rather inconvenient, and not guaranteed. Room fine - clean & spacious. Food good, including breakfast (too easy to mess up a fry up). A little old-fashioned, but that adds to its charm. Definitely worth returning.

Stayed here on a business trip and found rooms to be large and comfortable, but with some maintenance issues. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Overall better than a soulless travelodge or Premier Inn.

Dear Reviewer,

Your positive review was appreciated, especially your generous comparison against a competitor hotel. Often it is only when guests experience unsatisfactory aspects to their stay that one received feedback. Not so on this occasion…. I am very grateful for your note.

I was made aware of the maintenance issue you reported at the time and, of course, that failure has been rectified.

With best regards,
John

Stayed in this hotel on the valentines special on 16th of feb. This hotel offers five star service and five star food in a three star hotel. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the staff are fantastic. Lady on reception is so helpful as is the bar man who also served the food. Breakfast was lovely I even changed my choice of breakfast at the last minute and this was not a problem. A special thank you to all from us

Room Tip: If you are concerned about traffic noise ask for a room at the back

An older hotel with a kind of dated charm. The room are small and the first one we got didn't have a proper window, just the kind you expect in a bathroom. When we complained (which I normally don't do) we got another room without any fuzz. Parking is a ample but you have to walk a couple of yards.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for posting your helpful comments on Tripadvisor following your visit to the Imperial Crown Hotel earlier this year.

I was extremely sorry to learn of the disappointment you experienced with your original allocated bedroom but was pleased to read that an alternative one was arranged without fuss. The Imperial Crown is a typical old town centre hotel which was originally a coaching inn and where no two rooms are alike.

My team and I look forward to welcoming you back on a future visit to Halifax.

With best regards,
John
