in the last month I have eaten lunch twice here with a companion , it has been surprisingly busy for a Wednesday lunchtime , which reflects the quality of food and service , today we both had Steak and kidney pie chips and peas , the pie was home produced , and actually had plenty of kidney which is unusual in pub grub . The chips are worth the journey just for the crisp outer and fluffy inner cooked like a chip should be , and not frozen or over fried. I had the beer battered cod on the last visit , it was fresh fish and excellent , my companion had the burger , again superb . The service is excellent and the hosts genial . I will drive out of my way to eat here
