My husband and I visited this pub for lunch during the week after hearing good reviews. I was very disappointed. The pub has character, but is slightly tatty in places. The staff were very friendly and polite, but the food was a very big disappointment. My husband had the burger and chips which he said was OK. I had the ploughmans which was not OK. The cheese and ciabatta were lovely, the coleslaw was ok but nothing special, I wasn't keen on the chutney but that was just personal taste. The salad had a dressing on which tasted very cheap and artificial so I could not eat that. The 'butter' was not butter but margarine and not a good one. I have saved the best 'til last, the ham, utterly vile. It said on the menu it was home cooked baked ham but was the cheapest tasteless slice of 'ham' I have ever tasted in my life. It looked like plastic and had a horrible texture and didn't taste in the least like ham. As this and the cheese formed the basis of the ploughmans and was not exactly cheap at over £6, I was very disappointed. I will definitely not be visiting this restaurant again.
