“Not for a Monday night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Maybe we were unlucky going on a Monday night and the chef had a day off. Excellent looking menu, prices suggest quality but the food was really poor - over presented, poor ingredients, badly cooked.

“Che sorpresa!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

What a surprise, indeed! Who would have expected a restaurant of this high quality in Hinckley? Not me, ever since the excellent Altro Mondo (another Italian) closed down many years ago. So I had a most pleasant surprise when four of us dined at Rossini's last night - a reasonably busy Friday night. It was a superb experience: attentive service, excellent food, great presentation and not-too-shocking prices! The restaurant itself is considerably larger than it looks from the outside, and it can get a bit 'boomy' when lots of people are chirping away. Food-wise, though, things got off to a pretty good start with some excellent starters. My three skewered-and-grilled King Scallops wrapped in Parma ham for £7.90 was the stand-out one, but a friend's Gamberoni Zafferano (three King Prawns for £7.40) tasted very nice but were rather lost on the large platter; another couple of prawns would have been fair. For the mains, my wife's fillet steak with truffle sauce off the specials board, cooked to medium, and my rare Filetto Mare e Monti at £22.90 (fillet steak with yet more King Scallops!) were just outstanding - the best steaks that we have had in eons. One of our friends had a duck dish, also a special, and the other the Spigola al Gratinata (baked sea bass fillets to you and me at £16.90) which were also excellent. Oddly, dishes of very tasty roasted vegetables were included but potatoes were an extra, although the waiter was decent enough to tell us that two helpings of the sauteed variety would be enough for the four of us, which was the case. We all had different desserts, and the pick of the bunch had to be the Italian bread & butter pudding, being deliciously creamy. The bill for a round and a half of drinks, three courses each and two bottles of wine was £190, which I thought was very reasonable for that standard of meal. I was delighted to see that a service charge was not automatically added, which meant that we tipped generously because we wanted to.

“Excellent night.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

Went to Rossinis as a party of six on a special evening with friends. Had heard favourable revues beforehand and l can only echo these. Food was excellent. Of the highest order. Staff were polite, attentive and great fun. They didn't bug you, nor did they leave you stranded. Atmosphere was good. Restaurant was full. Prices on the dearer side but as a treat or what you fancy, well worth it. Wholeheartedly recommended. Will definately be returning. Enjoy!
