“Truly scrumptious desserts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

Just been to the Marina restaurant near Hinckley and what a lovely place we found. We were recommended it by some friends that live close by and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is large, airy and the staff are all very friendly. The outlook is great too, looking over the marina and sitting on the banks of the canal, we were able to watch barges going past and lots of ducks messing about on the water. It is ideal for families as there is an indoor children's play area which has climbing frames and ball pools all done very safety conscious and within view of some of the seats in the restaurant. The desserts are so scrumptious and makes deciding which to have a lot harder. If you join their bonus card offer, you get a free dessert for filling in their survey plus a free meal when its your birthday. A definite restaurant to add to any list of places to eat.

“Avoid this terrible place!...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

We have just made the mistake of giving this place another try...just read the reviews and don't bother with this place at all. The service is awful, the place is a mess with plates, glasses, discarded food all over the place and they run out of drinks on a very regular basis. - ran out of beer tonight at 6.45pm!!
Just do not go!

“Evening meal on spec.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

We called into this venue completely on spec. Four friends-family, including one overseas guest.
The most difficult part was gaining access to the car park, driving through the reception area nearly of the adjoining Hotel, more than one business share the site from what i deduced in darkness.
The place was absolutely buzzing when we entered, the staff immediately fore warned of a possible delay whilst handling the volume.
The meeter/greeter-till lady asked us to wait whilst she searched out a table on the second tier and duly escorted us there, a bit to near to the childrens play area which prompted a few chuckles.!!
Over the next 10-15mins we settled down perused the various extensive menus and soon realised we were past the deadline for a cheapie £10.00p for two, which did somewhat dissapoint when the road sign signeage probably only mentions that in smaller script than you can read whilst driving.
We then ascertained that you need to order at a central bar area and promptly went and organised the order, (navigating the various options with attendants help), of our choice simultaneously ordering soft drinks and opening a tab.
The same waitress who processed our order duly served us our drinks going through various choices/alternatives in a competent friendly manner.
The complete order arrived in less than 12 minutes, nobody dissapointed or waiting.
The meals were presented well on the plates and looked inviting and it was evident that care had been taken in the preparation process.
Two of us had steaks and two Lasagne, everything served was cooked throughly and very warm when arriving before us, again the staff were most polite and curteous, smiling at all times when addressing one.
Our table was visited about 3 or 4 times by various staff and management during our stay enquiring of our needs in enjoyment of the meal or for further refreshment orders.
The plates were duly removed in clear state from each member of our party by the waitress, we decided on the desserts and duly ordered those at the bar, waiting less than five mins for their arrival, all same story, nicely presented including two lemon meringues with extreme flavour, empty plates again.
We duly returned to the bar and settled our Table Account, just a smidgen above £15.00p per head which was a little suprising, upon calculating it was certainly value, unfortunateley as is so often the case the headline offer of attraction to get one through the doors is not what you ultimately receive.!! Beware 6.30pm is the deadline for two @ £10.00.
In summary be carefull how you leave the main road/fuel station, entering the site and access the venues actual car park, similarly leaving the site was a trial, once seated there is nothing at all to worry about.

We will most certainly return.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014 via mobile

We went for breeky on a Sunday not much fruit salad the waitress sed there was no more they add ran out, add to wait 20 mins for our order to be taken, then waited around 30 mins to receive it, I chose poached eggs & asked for them runny, when they arrived I'm sure they were warmed up boiled eggs as there was still shell on them. I complained & got fresh eggs & full refund . Won't return for a breeky

“truly awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

Booked for 6 of us as a family. Service was so slow it was incredible. Garnish with starters when they eventually arrived was so wilted it was inedible. Had to send my one family member's lasagne back, another's steak was awful and significantly overdone for a medium; more well done to cremated. As for the ladies toilets I took it as themed to Hinckley's version of Beirut. Definitely not worth another try, ever.
