“Idyllic site, warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Just had a great stay here. Lovely grounds, nice and quiet. Great breakfast and a warm welcome. Within easy reach of Edinburgh. Our room was nice and cosy and we slept like logs after a hard days comedy at the Fringe. Looking forward to staying again

First class on any criteria. Beautiful and tranquil setting near the Cleish Hills yet only 2/3 miles from M90. Accommodation impressively appointed with comfy bed/crisp damask linen and luxurious ensuite including roll-top bath. The full breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared .We were made to feel very welcome by the owner.Altogether delightful and genuine quality at a reasonable cost.

This was a last minute choice for a trip to the Royal Highland. The room was large, well furnished & very comfortable. The views were super. Breakfast was cooked to order with high quality produce. The views were pretty & I hope to be back soon!

We stayed at Nivingston weekend of T in the park, getting a bit too old for camping. Bob and Sherry were excellent hosts. They couldn't do enough for us and the room was just something else with enough breakfast to feed an army. We would highly recommend a visit any time of the year.

ahhh, this is it: all the perks one imagine old-style country nobility must have enjoyed, but none of the stuffiness. Understated elegance, given a zesty touch by the hosts. Those breakfasts! And all that amidst rolling fields and close enough to Endinburgh to be convenient. A definite recommendation.

What a place, what a room, what a host !!! All absolutely fantastic. My husband took me away for some quiet time before going away to Afghanistan. I thought we were going to a Premier Inn but what a surprise !! We were welcomed by a log fire and candles lit in the Lounge. Our room was calming and had fabulous views of open countryside. The bathroom, with its twin sinks, claw foot bath (as well as a separate shower) and attention to detail almost made you want to spend all your time in there. Breakfast, well what can I say apart from we didn't need to eat again until the evening. We were served fresh fruit before a cooked breakfast and my husband was even offered more once he had finished. The finishing touch was that we could choose our own breakfast time. Before leaving I asked to look around the other rooms as it is an ideal place to hire exclusively. They were all bright, clean and all had great views. On talking to Rob (our host) if we were to do this his services were available if we wanted evening meals cooked. All in all a wonderful experience that we can't wait to repeat. Nothing was too much and to top it all great value for money. Thanks to Rob and his family for a memorable stay !!

We have just come back from a weekend break at Nivingston country house.
We found the house to be in tip top order in every way. The house is stunning and clean. It is spacious yet very comfortable and warm. The room we stayed in was fantastic and the bathroom breathtaking. The views around Nivingston country house are just beautiful and perfect for a leisurely walk anytime.
The owners were so accommodating and friendly and cooked the most fantastic organic breakfast.
We would definitely stay here again as we we were so relaxed and happy when we left.
