Stayed for one night. Room was OK, basic. Clearly the 4 poster bed room elicits a different standard of feedback with previous people remarking about how fantastic the hotel is. However, our rooms ( we booked 5 rooms) were just OK. No view, in fact looked out onto a dirty roof top. Food was OK- they did use local produce but it was a hit and miss. One in the party had lamb and it was done well but the local haddock - was not brilliant. Dining room was quiet and lacked any ambiance. Staff were nice, young but very helpful. Quiet lounge for reading and it scores on the location.
Disabled guests will either have to breakfast and dinner in their room or in the bar - not ideal if you are travelling as part of a group. Dining room and guest lounge on the first floor- no lifts. Overall, I would not describe the rooms as 4*, more like a high 2 or low 3*.
