I have eaten at the Ayre twice over the past couple of months as other people have booked it for me. The food has been dreadfully disappointing. The first time was for a family Sunday lunch. The food was comparable to a poor school dinner and the portions were meagre. It was not good value for money and I was disappointed with every course. The second time was for a work meal in the evening. We were put in the function room which was devoid of any atmosphere. We waited for over an hour for our pre-ordered starters. Mine was over cooked, cold and an absolute disgrace for the £7.95 price being charged. The main course was served on a plate that was only big enough for a starter and was a pathetic size of portion for the money. The main part of the dessert was ok but was served with inedible, stale shortbread. The service was poor and it was clear that the waitresses had no interest whatsoever in whether people were enjoying the food or not. The general consensus amongst our group was that the food and service were substandard and I for one won't be returning.
