Description: At the Foveran, you can enjoy the finest Orkney produce in a relaxed and comfortable setting with stunning views across historic Scapa Flow. Superb seafood features strongly on our menu along with prime beef and lamb. We work closely with local suppliers to ensure we obtain the highest quality. We also offer a wide range of carefully selected wines, local ales and malts. We're really proud to have been four times winner of the Orkney Food and Drink 'best evening meal' award and the first 'Orkney Masterchef 2014 title. We look forward to offering you a memorable Orcadian experience.

“Great meal again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Once more a visit to the Foveran restaurant was as good as always and the quality is of the same high standards as I expect. The Orkney gold steak was as tender and tasty as ever.
Being the festive season it was very busy but the staff coped admirably with good service.

“A brilliant introduction to Orkney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

A four night stay in October with friends was made all the better for stayong and eating at Foveran. A friendly welcome by Paul and a welcoming tea and cakes in the lounge after we had deposited our bags in the cosy bedrooms. Breakfasts were excellent with a great choice at a time to suit us and the view over Scappa was magnificent. Evening meals were superb and clearly appreciated by locals too. One evening the restaurant was closed - as agreed with us beforehand - but we returned to find a fire laid for us in the lounge and access to the bar was offered (and accepted!) after that morning's breakfast. All in all a brilliant experience.

“Not only a restaurant highly acclaimed by locals and visitors, but a welcoming small hotel with spectacular views.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

The larger Kirkwall and Stromness hotels may be convenient, although not without parking problems at times, but with a car you can be in Kirkwall within ten minutes of leaving The Foveran, which is situated in an attractive rural location. overlooking Scapa Flow. On the island, the restaurant is second only to the Michelin acclaimed Creel at St Margarets Hope. The service is superb, with local staff who are invariably attentive, friendly and professional. Accustomed to staying in Kirkwall while eating here, it was time to sample the rooms, and we were not disappointed. The decor, comfort and facilities were all you could wish for in a small hotel, and we will certainly be back to stay again soon.Unless you particularly want to stay in the South, this would seem to be the ideal place to stay on Orkney.

Room Tip: I can't remember the number of our room which had panoramic views over the coast line, but the o...

“disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

There was no friendly welcome, although we had booked ahead. The menu choice was poor. My husband does not eat fish and so his choice was particularly limited. It had been recommended to us, but did not live up to our expectations

Thank you very much for taking the time to review us.

We are probably as disappointed as you that you did not enjoy your evening with us.

From your comments we will have a look at our menu taking in to account people
who do not eat fish and we can only apologise that the staff on duty that evening did
not welcome you as we would have wished.

We appreciate your constructive criticism and will address the points raised.
