“Excellent - as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

I cannot speak highly enough of The Mere.
We got married here 2 years ago and we were keen to experience the hotel and to see how the place has changed since then.
Wow, the hotel has only been open 8 weeks and it is fantastic. I truly loved Mere when we got married there and although the venue has been modernised it still feels the way it always has.
We stayed in suite 217, it has a large sitting room, large bedroom and huge bathroom with a lovely balcony. When you sit there you could be anywhere in the world.
The staff, although mostly young, are very helpful, professional and knowledgeable and they all want your stay to be the best it can be. We had a meal at Browns and the food is excellent and I’d say is on par with some of the best restaurants we have eaten at.
We have been to the spa a few times over the past year and on this stay we had also booked some treatments that were as excellent as always.
Having spent our wedding night and our first wedding anniversary at Cottons Hotel down the road from Mere, I do feel that Mere is going to give it some strong competition and I have to say this could now be one of our favourite hotels. I cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: ask for suite 217, you will not be disappointed

Went to The Mere Golf and Spa Resort for one night on 28th May with 3 female friends, it as an offer from Travelzoo, for the price we paid it was amazing and as a treat I would pay full price. The room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we were over an hour early, so we ate in the bar overlooking the lake. The food, service and view were all amazing. Check-in was fast and the bedroom was one of the best I have ever stayed in, the beds were so comfortable and there were two sinks in the bathroom, the finishes were of a top standard. We ate in Browns restaurant, the meal was included in our deal although the drinks were extra, I wish we'd have looked at the price list first though as a rose wine was £7! The food was lovely and well presented so it was worth the little extra for the drinks. We used the spa the following day, wearing our provided slippers and robes, as the sun was out we lay outside on the loungers, which were as comfortable as the beds! The pools, sauna etc were spotlessly clean and relaxing. I hope to return one day and would recommend it.

Room Tip: We had room 33 which overlooked the car park, but was a lovely room (twin).

We spent 2 nights bought on an online deal through a third party. The Hotel is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful.
The room was very well thought out and the ensuite clean and well equipped.
The restaurant staff were friendly on the whole but the service on the second morning was a bit of a disappointment... we were left with all used crockery on the table and had very little room to enjoy the next course. It seemed we were invisible.
My husband and I both had an aromatherapy treatment which left us feeling relaxed.
The pool area was clean and relaxing.

Our enjoyment of the whole stay was spoiled by the Golfing fraternity's attitude towards us and the fact that it does appear to be a golf player orientated venue. We felt like second class citizens at times and were made to feel a bit uncomfortable....our Panda looked a bit out of place amongst the BMWs, Audis and Jags!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Mere are available at extra cost

Myself and my wife got married at the Mere on the 31st March 2012. Everything about the place was just perfect... the food, service, bedrooms and spa was everything we could have dreamed of. Our guests are still telling us now what an amazing time they had, we would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting whether its for a romantic dinner at Browns restaurant or going the whole hog and doing what we did and get hitched! Thanks so much to everyone at the Mere for making the event so special for us. We will be back soon. Paul and Abbey x

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the water if you can.

The hotel offers a perfekt WiFi Coverage, for britian an awesome spa area: big pool, nearly clean, 6 saunas, personal trainers, etc., bar in the spa area.
The bed was very good, the room design modern but a bit dark. The room had a big tv with HDMI connection and was very silent.

BUT the breakfast:
never ready at 7, continental breakfast for 14 GBP very very poor.
English breakfast (20 GBP) a la card: a la card for breakfast seems to be a bit...overkill, quality was not matching the ambitions, scumbled eggs looked like already eaten.
Only a very small selection of cereals, the "fresh fruits" were put into "nice" miniature-plates, and tasted... like 2 days old.
If you wanted to have a tea of coffee you had to wait on some days more than 10 minutes (normally my complete breakfast is finished faster)

Overall a very nice place if you are familiar with the very special behavior of golf playing people, and are not short of time when it comes to breakfast.
A bit less "show" would fit very well, but I'll stay there again next week, more or less just because of the spa and the wifi

whole atmosphere was very..."Golf player like", you should mention that when thinking about a stay in this hotel.

Stayed two nights in room with view of the lake. Very comfortable well appointed and quiet room. All of the staff were very friendly, helpful and local and this aspect made our stay extra special. We have not found this in other establishments. Many thanks to the people who looked after us. An excellent base for National Trust visiting. The Spa was across the car park but well worth spending time there relaxing. Had a meal at the restaurant the first night, and enjoyed so much we booked again for the second night. An excellent chef..

My husband and I attended a charity ball here just last night and I am quick to write this review as we had such a wonderful stay. We don't get away often so it was lovely to be welcomed so warmly and have such a great room overlooking the fantastic golf course.

We were with a group of friends and we all agreed this was definitely a place to come back to, be it for a weekend away, a wedding or special event, this resort can offer it all.

The ladies amongst us have been to our fair share of spa's over the years and we can honestly say that the facilities here far out weigh some of the more well know resorts across Staffs and Cheshire (eg:Rookery Hall). Excellent choice of relaxation rooms, a lovely warm pool, amazing water jets in the Jacuzzi, spotlessly clean and pleasant smelling and the best thing of all....plenty of soft chairs and beds with a polite sign encouraging people not to reserve seats/beds with towels -hooray, somewhere has got it right at last!!! There is nothing worse than going for a pamper day and not being able to sit down all day for a shortage of beds.

The changing rooms were spot on too - spotlessly clean, thanks to friendly staff keeping on top of everything, large shower cubicles equipped with lovely shampoo and conditioner, individual changing cubicles plus a roomy communal changing space. Fluffy towels, fab hair dryers and body lotion mean you can literally pop in with just your swim suit in hand.

Breakfast was great, in the clean and airy Browns restaurant. Staff were once again relaxed and friendly. We loved the fact that they ask you how you want your eggs then cook them to order - no more congealed fried eggs floating in grease.

Overall, this place is fantastic, great facilities, great staff, great food, great rooms.....well, go see for yourself! I can't wait to go back. Well done everyone - keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake.
