“Nearly there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Two visits in close succession, both in the evening. Shown staight to our table as the bar area was busy at the time. Service throughout was attentive and fairly slick. We were perhaps expecting more in regard to the food following the accolades that The Dun Cow had received. On both occassions we all had something different, portions were a good size and good quality ingredients showed through with some good touches on the presentation. For the prices you have to pay it just should be better. We ordered our wine, both bottles came to the table opened, (not what we expect when eating out) we pointed out one bottle was not the wine we had ordered, this was resolved by them offering us the opened, more expensive bottle, for the price of the cheaper bottle we had ordered. It is nearly there.........but not quite, in our opinion.

“Dun cow knutsford”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Used to go here many years ago when it was a genuine old pub with a log fire. Spent many a fine evening there.

So it was a bit of a shock to see that it had been gutted with modern puse furniture , loud music. The menu didn't look too appetising so we left without eating there. I can only think the old antiques furniture must have been valuable.

“Style over substance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012 via mobile

Sadly I have to do this ! Being in the trade makes it awkward but easy at the same time £8.00 for 8 mussels steep! Tasted fine beards need removing though ! Overcooked dry burger ( had to as lunch menu is very limited ) with a dozen small chips £14.50 presented on £40 worth of wooden board with mini chip basket etc get the cooking right first please! My partner had chicken pie which she certainly makes better herself lacked seasoning and at £14.50 again expensive but when its presented on £40 worth of wooded board mini chip basket and mini cast iron dish I suppose you have to charge those prices! I don't object in the slightest paying for good food but it wasn't very very disappointing won't be returning !!

“Don't go”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

I had the unforutnate pleasure of dining at the dunn cow on Saturday night gone. Although the food taste ok i have to say that its portion size to coat are ridiculous. At £ 16.50 for a lamb sheperds pie that is basiccally a childs portion and couldnt of cost no more than £5.00 to produce. I asked for a small green salad instead of the mushy peas for my pathers dinner and sadly was charged £4.00 for the privelidge. The staff have no idea when it comes to customer service one constantly has to attract their attention to get any semblance of service. I have worked in this industry myself so i know whats required and how to do the job. Save yourself a lot of money anf book elsewhere. It will be money well saved.

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We dined here with friends on their recommendation and we were very impressed. A lovely atmosphere and a great menu. We had loin of rabbit in parmesan to start and then guineafowl, both were excellent and well presented. Well worth a return visit.
