Value for money only if you have a Groupon deal. We would have been bitterly disappointed had we paid full price – the a la carte menu is steep when you consider there are other restaurants close by serving up plentiful dishes at a fraction of the normal cost here.
Still, this was a Saturday night out viewed with a difference. We loved the quaintness of the place and busy atmosphere. Yet it wasn't OTT despite there not being one empty table all night (maybe they all booked via Groupon!). Though didn’t see any signs of a karaoke night in the making, like some reviewers have said there is – mind you, we were gone by nine-thirty, so probably missed it.
Nonetheless, our two hosts were most attentive. Nice people. Smiling. Caring. Altogether wanting you to enjoy the occasion.
The char-baked sea bass, while having more small bones than we're used to, was nonetheless tasty, although the accompanying salad appeared to have died with it. The house white’s not a bad tipple either, although there is no wine list as such – you get red, white or rosé.
Authentic Portuguese cooking? Probably not.
Enjoyable experience? A night out's whatever you make it.
Would we return? Armed with another Groupon, perhaps.
