This is the first time we have stayed here whilst visiting our daughter who lives locally to here. The Premier Inn was fine, usual standard of cleanliness and friendliness of staff. The very good score above is for the Premier Inn itself, not the customer service! I see a previous reviewer complained about the fire alarm going off at 8am, what a sensible time they had for it, OUR FIRE ALARM WENT OFF at 6.30am on Saturday!!!! Full hotel, with hundreds of people running out into the cold, babies and children were carried and wrapped in duvets, some guests in bare feet, staff did not tell us anything, just walked around looking official with a clip board and flurescant jacket on.
3 of us were desperate to use the toilet and asked staff who were setting up for breakfast at 7am in the adjoining Beefeater, if we could use the toilets, we were told "NO". I can see that they wouldn't want 200 or so people coming in, but think that we should have been allowed to use the toilets, no customer service there! On our return inside after the Fire Brigade had been, I aksed staff what it was and he said "our sensitive alarms, could have been a shower or deodorant set it off". Only got a refund for the night when I asked on checking out.
Tip for future guests: wear warm pyjamas and grab a coat and put on slippers when the alarm goes, and I hope you are not desperate to use the toilet!!!!!
That said, I would go back again, when in the area and just hope it dosen't happen again.
