“Lovely Pleasant Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We spent two nights at Britten House over last weekend so that we could go to the local theatre. Our room was spacious, clean, warm and very comfortable. Very nice en suite even if we couldn't master the very sophisticated bath, which (in theory) would allow you to bath, shower or have a back or foot massage. Breakfast was a feast, food beautifully cooked by Ann and served up by Colin. A super couple with their extremely well behaved dog Benjamin, made our break very pleasant and relaxing.

Room Tip: Mozart Room has lovely views and is extremely spacious with sofa and table and chairs

We stayed for one night on 15th March & were impressed by the overall standard of the premises, the cleanliness, attention to detail the breakfast was great & the friendliness of the staff
This is one of the Best B & B's we have stayed in.It is about a 15 minute walk to the main shopping area & is across the road form the sea front

Stayed at Britten House while on business in the area. I chose it because of the high rating on Trip Advisor. Very warm welcome and a lovely old house with a great history. I stayed in the Benjamin Britten room which was apparently his bedroom as he grew up. It's a lovely room with sea views, unfortunately there is no en-suite - it's a listed building and (quite rightly) the council don't want BB's bedroom messed around with. It does have it's own private bathroom but it's a pain messing around with keys in the middle of the night when you're desperate for a Jimmy Riddle! If you are staying here I would try and get one of the other rooms (all named after famous composers). Breakfast is enormous and really lovely - the only drawback is if there's an argument in the kitchen everyone in the dining room can hear it. But don't let that put you off because this is a great place and fantastic value for money.

Room Tip: The Benjamin Britten room is lovely but there's no en-suite and the private bathroom is out on t...

Absolutely brilliant stay. Ann and Colin could not have been better hosts. The hotel is just the best I have ever stayed in. Rooms very very warm and comfortable. The breakfast is one of the best that I have ever eaten and also had a very good choice. Even if they did not have somemething you wanted Colin would try his best to get it for you. You can see why this hotel is rated as the No 1. in Lowestoft.

As with our previous visits, it is difficult to find fault with Britten House. The owners are very helpful and provide a lovely breakfast. The rooms are warm and clean and it is superb value when compared with more southerly parts of the Suffolk Coast such as Southwold and Aldeburgh. Lowestoft is a central location for visits to the Suffolk and Norfolk Coast and The Broads

I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and B&B's and this is among the best.

Room - clean and comfortable. 4 poster bed, desk, large comfy sofa, mini table and chair, 28" Flast Screen, modern power shower, ocean view, large windows.

Excellent host. Price is way below what it should be! Feels like a home away from home.

Not had breakfast yet but I'm sure that will be just as lovely....

Despite the unfortunate weather (the weekend of the biggest blizzard this year in the UK...) The stay at Britten House was very comfortable and made for a lovely stay. Colin and Ann are so nice and informative on what to do in the area, so thank you very much for that!
We stayed in the Mozart Suite which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is fabulous and you get a sea view as well.
I would definitely return here again and recommend this to anyone - first class stay if you're in the area! (Also the breakfasts were excellent!)

Room Tip: Mozart Suite! Big, great bathroom, sea view
